Give me a reason to try Flame Tree again

Maybe it was a fluke, but I seem to be the only one who isn't wowed by Flame Tree BBQ. They weren't terrible, but they certainly weren't delectable. They do give you a lot of food, but if it's kind of tasteless, then what's the point? My husband thought the same thing. As for my two year old at the time, they had that pre-packaged crustless pb&j which was just gross to me on several levels. I don't care for Rainforest Cafe that much but may have to go there unless someone tells me Flame Tree was a rare miss on that day.

We aren't crazy about Flametree. We usually hit Restaurantasorus or yak n yeti cs for lunch at AK.

thanks, those both look good. I'll pick whichever looks quicker to get in, but I lean toward Y&Y.

One thing we didn't notice at first when we ate at Flame Tree is that BBQ sauce is available in each of the pavilions where you get napkins, etc. We found the meats were a bit too dry but the sauce helps, especially if you prefer "wet" BBQ.

I usually like Flame Tree but we went out on a limb this trip and tried the Y&Y CS. My DD had the sweet and sour chicken and my DH and I split their Asian chicken sandwich. It was quite good. So if you are looking for an alternative to Flame Tree consider Y&Y.

Personally I'm a big fan of FT, but not everyone is...
I agree that you can try getting more sauce.
Maybe it was an off day but maybe it just isn't your thing.
I have tried Y&Y CS and personally found it pretty bad. Worse than local cheap Chinese, imo.
Some time back Restaurantosaurus re-worked their menu and added some more appealing options so you might want to give them a try.
I usually do that or FT because I can use my TIW discount at both and that is rare for CS places...

I could take it or leave it. but i have TiW and FT is the only QS that accepts it. But i agree with PP's that Y and Y is a good alternative

I don't love it, but I like it. And it's probably the only place in WDW where my entire family can eat for under $15, so that helps.

As I mentioned in my pp, Restaurantosaurus accepts TIW too, unless that has changed in the last 6 months or so...

I'd looked into TIW some time back. I'm assuming that you usually go with a discounted room as opposed to free dining? We went free dining this route b/c we'll be heavy with table service meals (some character meals in there), but next time we're going to opt for a cheaper room. I just wonder where the break even point is on TIW.

I ate there this past April. It was "ok" but not as good as it used to be. I like pizzafari....at least it's air conditioned.

I agree regarding Y&Y...without a doubt the worst meal we had during our last trip.

Personally I think Flametree is fine...I don't go to Flametree expecting the same quality of BBQ that I would find in Kansas City or the southern US. But at the end of the day when looking for a place to eat in Animal Kingdom I would rather eat at Flametree rather than Y&Y or Pizzafari.

I would say you did not hit a rare day, and Rainforest Cafe isn't that much better. In fact it may even be worse.

I have always been a fan of Flame Tree. However, on our trip last September the first time we tried it I was not impressed at all. I almost did not try it again that trip, but since we were there for two weeks, I decided to give it another shot a week later. It turned out that the second time around everything that we had was really good.

I think it is just like most other Disney restaurants now, very hit or miss.
