I know it's my fault....I had too many things going on and didn't check in right at 24 hours. I've already warned my kids (7 and 8) that we might not be sitting together. But I'm wondering what my chances are.

Direct flight from Buffalo to MCO. We got B44 thru 48. :(

Any thoughts on our chances of getting at least 2 and 2 together?

I know it is not guaranteed.

you'll be in the back, but you should be fine.

I would guess that 2 + 2 is at least an 80% possibility. I'd bet 3 of you will be together, the 4th is a little riskier.

Having said that, I've never flown out of Buffalo. My experience is out of Philly.

I fly that flight all the time. If you go straight to the back of the plane you should be fine in getting seats together. With four of you, I bet you will get one of the last three across together with the single near by, if not right next to it.
Remember that those planes hold almost 200 people so you are getting on just after the half way mark depending on preboards and small children. You are also flying mid week. The flight might not even be sold out.:goodvibes

Southwest's planes hold 122 to 137 according to seatguru. A is 1 to 60, B is 1 to 60, C is what's left. A1 to 15 is sometimes not all used.

Which flight are you on? We're flying out of BUF to MCO on the 4:55 flight this afternoon. I checked in right at the 24h point, and we board right at the end of the A's. I believe the flight is sold out (or so the website said yesterday morning), but even at that, I think your chances for 2 and 2 at the back of the plane are pretty good.

Good luck (and maybe we'll see you on the plane!)

YUP that's our flight too! I'm thinking that we've got a shot at 2 and 2....but I guess we'll see. I've been preparing the kids for not sitting together though, just in case.

Hopefully the weather won't hinder us.

See you there - have a great trip!

I'm not flying SW or out of BUF, but I'm flying from MSP to MCO tomorrow too!!! Yeah for mid-week travelers! Enjoy your vacations!!!

Get out of here before the snow Saturday! Enjoy..... we are not flying SW or out of Buffalo, but we are flying MSP-MCO in March..... just sayin... LOL

Southwest is so expensive out of MSP..... they have not been the savior everyone had hoped they would be for MSP.

Just wanted to say, my family of five got high B's and we were all able to sit together, just near the back of the plane. There was lots of seats left back there.

I would just tell the flight attendant if the kids are separated, some good samaritan will change seats. I saw it on my last two flights in July, coming and going to WDW. :)

Edited to add:

Just noticed the op started the thread back on 11/30, guess it's a moot point by now. lol

I can't imagine getting anything out of Buffalo right now!!

You must have seen us on the news! All that snow is far south of the airport. I live only 10 minutes from the airport and it looks great out my window. We only got a little snow. Lake effect snow is freaky like that.

How early did you check in. We have an early flight on a Monday morning, and I was planning to set my alarm for 6am Sunday morning so I could check in at the 24 hour mark.

I totally flaked on checking in and checked in a couple of hours after I could have.... but my kids are older (11, 10, and 7) so we only really have to sit next to the 7 yo... and as long as we are within a couple of rows of the other two, they dont care... They are busying reading, listening to their ipods etc... they make great middle seaters haha

Yeah and it falling steadily in my backyard  but we didn't get the worst of it.

HI - OP here with update....

After driving thru a blizzard and being concerned about even getting off the ground....It turned out fine! :goodvibes

We had boarding pass B44, 45, 47 and 48 I think. I got very nervous as it got closer because dd7 kept almost crying about wanting to be near us. So i went to the strategy to just find the first group of 2 seats together I could find and not worry about 3 together at all. I was even prepared to call out anyone 'saving' seats for others. So About 1/2 way down aisle I found a middle and aisle together - so I instructed dd7 and dh to sit there while ds8 and I continued down....just as we were nearing the back, a woman in the aisle seat got up and moved to the middle seat across the aisle (once she realized it was going to be full, she moved over with the rest of her party), so I grabbed the 3 seats together (last one available) and ds and I sat down. I waved to dh to bring dd back to me. And had several people enquire about my 3rd seat in the time it took them to get back to us. But I just said 'it's for my 7 year old - she's right there' and it was fine (I didn't feel guilty because honestly she had a better boarding pass # than any of these people who were asking so the seat 'should have' been hers by fairness). So ds, dd and I sat together and dh just sat in a middle seat about 5 rows up from us.

I did see a father and son (who appeared to be about 12) standing there looking for 2 seats together and the man said a couple of times something like 'I guess you'll have to sit here by yourself' - I think he was hoping someone would switch for him, but no takers.

On the way home, determined to check-in right at 24 hours, dh tested using his blackberry to do it since we were at EPCOT at the right time. He checked in right on time....and we still got B seats. But luckly it was B 3,5,7 and 8! So I knew we'd be ok with those. When I got on board there were a bunch of 3 seaters left - probably at least 8 of them.

So it all ended well!

Thanks for the words of encouragement! :)

Yes - it was scary....COming from Rochester too. Luckily, it was snowing hard here in Roch but as we got closer to BUF, it stopped - it was all south of Buffalo and it didn't snow at all for the 2- 3 hours we were there before takeoff.

We got lucky....ON the way back home this past Monday...we did get stuck behind an accident on the thruway for an hour - UGH, but made it back OK in the end!

Your DH is a crazy man. I would have kept it 2 and 2 so both adults had a comfortable aisle seat. This would have still had each child with an adult. Rather than 3 by 1 with one adult in an uncomfortable middle squashed seat.

When my sis and I were kiddos we always sat 2 by 2 with the adults. It was always a treat to sit by Dad since Dad was always traveling for work so it was a special treat to have one on one time with Dad.

I also don't understand why 3 * 1 is more desirable. In the event of an emergency you would want a 1:1 ratio to adult. One parent should not be responsible for two small children in the event of an emergency. If there were an emergency each adult could help a child, instead your DH was squashed in a useless position away from anyone he cares about.
