Will there be more opportunities listed in the near future?

There is nothing left!

Is there a specific date more will show up or do you just need to keep checking daily?

Thank you!,

Dawn

IMO more will be listed as time goes on. I just registered our group the other day and it takes up to 5 business days for things to appear on their site. So keep checking.

I just posted a new thread on another board asking the same thing. I think it would be wonderful if there was an organization taking donations of clothing or food or supplies to send to Haiti.

I did the email thing to 6 on Monday and so far no return emails. They say 5 days so that is Saturday.

Well, they say opportunities show up 60 days in advance, so I assume it will be a gradual roll out. Hopefully folks will post here if they notice any kind of pattern though ie: new availability on Mondays, etc.

Good Luck, I hope you are able to find something that works for you.

I did sign up 2 of us for an event close by and there were tons of openings, and then went back to sign the rest of the family up and they were gone!

I think what gets me is I that I am sure there are folks signed up who won't follow through.....and we WILL follow through.

Oh well, I am hoping more will show up soon.

I would JUMP on that. We have dear friends working in Haiti and I can't even get a hold of them right now. I have heard through the grapevine that they are ok, but can't reach them by phone.

PS: I plan to give for this cause without or without a Disney incentive, but it would be nice to have the Disney availability there as well.

I signed up Jan. 1 and I went back yesterday and there were a ton of new opp. in my area. I kind of wished I had waited. We are working at a wrestling tournament on Sunday. Just seems like an odd volunteer opp. to me for some reason! :)

I was having the same issue, everything we could do as a family said "0 volunteers needed". But then...I just radomly decided to check yesterday morning (I had usually been looking in the evening) and our opportunity was there! The one I had been hoping for. We are helping out at a Children's Theater that will be held at a local high school. We will collect tickets, pass out programs, etc and it was for ages 8+. At first they only posted a Jan. date (that sold out quickly) but yesterday a March date appeared. So...that leads me to believe dates and openings will be rolling out. The bad part is, I think you just have to keep checking, which can drive you batty. :crazy2:

yes, keep looking each day. I was trying to find something my DD who is almost 9 could do and final found one. I am working with SKIP (Support Kids in Peru) where all the monies raised go to help with education opportunities in Peru. We are coordinating a "Dress down day" (kids have to wear uniforms to school) and each student pays $2 for the pass and all monies go to SKIP. They are listed in our area (Hartford, CT) but will accept volunteers from anywhere. Good Luck.

Thanks. I do see that a couple things popped up today. Nothing we can do yet (age restraints) but they are new....so will keep checking.

This past Sunday, we volunteered at a museum and had fun. We made slime and super balls. I emailed the coordinator and asked if she would be posting more opportunities and she said no. I was hoping to volunteer again with my daughter and her boyfriend. I keep checking and new opportunities do appear. I received my tickets today. But how long will the 1,000,000 tickets last? There is alot of interest.

I'm signed up to make blankets for Project Linus. There are no chapters of PL near me that are participating in GAD, so I emailed a coordinator in a neighboring state and she said she is more than willing to help me out. DH, DS and I will be making a no-sew fleece blanket each and mailing them to the coordinator so we can get our vouchers. I know that PL has a national chapter that is accepting blanket donations as well...google their website or look them up on the Hands On Network site...

Very cute!

How big did you go?

I'm planning on making one for a 6 yr old, and I can't decide what size to I want it to be.

Make sure to double check the requirements. I know ours all have to be a yard and half minimum size. That makes a good size blanket for a toddler and a nice lap blanket for bigger kids to adults.

When I looked for stuff here they all said 0 volunteers needed but I emailed them anyway. They said it said 0 becouse it was not a fixed day, you could do it when ever you wanted on your own time.

We did quiet a few things, as I thought what they were asking for wasn't enough. We did a tolet paper drive.(they asked for 10 rolls. My boys collected 29 it became a contest as they got to friends houses to see who could get out first and get to the door) We collected about 120 bars of soap, 50 shampoo, 6 reusable shopping bags. and I cut out over 500 peices of themed stuff for there bulliten board.

They had asked for 10 rolls of tolet paper and 5 boxes of kleenex. (no one had any extra boxes) Then 60 cut outs for the bulliten board. I just felt like we should do more so we did what we could and I'm meeting with them tomorrow to turn the stuff in. We have to drive over two hours to get there as there is nothing around here.

our requirement is for only a single layer blanket.....weird how each chapter of pl is different

I signed up for dzns w/no response. Linus in my area isn't taking blankets. I found from another diser if you put walt disny, fl in zip code you can get orgs you can mail. I an doing the linus. You make a blanket and take a photo of you doing it. Send both to their main chapt. If you have small kids they write a card to go with blanket. Got in right away. t
