This morning a volunteer opportunity popped up that I wanted for DH and myself. As part of the registration process, I went ahead and added both of the kids b/c I knew I'd be signing them up for something.

I decided the Project Linus program would be great for the kids...DD12 and DS9. The problem is that I can't figure out how to sign them up. I went into "Manage Account" and followed everything until I got to the Project Linus details. It has you enter your e mail address so they can send you the info before you commit. The email contains a link to click on if you decide to commit. The link carries you back to the original registration page...where you enter all of your info. Since my email address is already in the system, it will not allow me to enter anything. However, if I go to the manage acct. link, I am basically going in circles b/c the Project Linus details makes you enter the email so they can send you the info, etc...just goes in a big circle. The email says if you can't use the link (that you are supposed to use to commit), then you can click on a "sign-up" link in the project details. However, there is no sign up link in the details...only a place to enter your email for the "information email."

Ugh, hope this makes sense and hope some one can help. I've been getting frustrated! TIA:)

I signed up for a Project Linus, too!

You can't register or "sign up" until you hear back from the Linus people. When they respond to you, they put a link that allows you to then commit and put in your volunteer/date times.

Does that seem like what you need to do? (Without going back to look, which I can't, it is hard to tell you exactly what I did..)

I am trying to find a Project Linus chapter that will let me mail in my blanket..will the one(s)that you have found allow that?

Yes, when you enter the zip code: put in disney world, fl and it has a place to sign ip for Project Linus where you can ship the blankets. I'm just going in circles trying to get it to work.:confused3 If you figure it out, please let me know.

Yes, I got the email and the link but it takes me back to the original GAD registration page. It has the Project Linus info in the upper right corner of the screen but as I posted earlier, it won't let me sign in on this page since I already have an acct. When I go into Manage Accts, I have to search again for the Project Linus and it only gives me the option to enter my email address for the ifo. from Project Linus. Then, the email gives me that link but takes me back to the original GAD registration and the above repeats...like I said...just keep going in circles.

under the place it asks for an email for more info there should be a sentence about already contacting and click here to add you time

Once you go into your account you should not have to search again for the activity. I just logged onto my account and all the info was right there. There was a grey box in the middle of my screen that says Lead Volunteer with my name listed...then under the grey box it says "Additional Household Volunteers." I simply clicked on that and there was the pop-up info for my new volunteers.

Are you logging in to the "Manage My Account" area in the middle of the page between the "Search for Activity" and "Redeem Your Ticket?" You also need to use the email address you signed up under for the HandsOn Network.

Yes. I'm just frustrated right now. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

I had the same problem. I tried to sign up for something not realizing it was full. Then when Project Linus sent the confirmation I could not register with the same email. I ended up using a different email.

First I want to say thank you Pixidustaholic. I have been trying for a week to get in to volunteer program and not luck. My Linus project in the area isn't taking blankets. In return I figured how to signe up.
1. Login to "manage account"
2. Search for opportunity.
3. enter "Disney World, FL"
4. Find your opportunity and enter email
5. Go to your email and click on link.
6. Takes you to your account.
7. Click on names participating.
8. Submit.
9. Make blanket, etc.

Good luck.

I don't think I have an account yet, since I can't seem to sign up anywhere. ?????? How do you get an account if you're not aleady in a program???

I also thought making blankets for Project Linus would be great for the kids, something more hands on than our normal volunteering. However, this is the answer I finally got back from the local NC Project Linus coordinator:

I'm sorry but we are not participating in that promotion. I teach full time and have many family responsibilities, so I don't have time to jump through all the hoops the coordinators have to for that project. My group last night let me know that they were not interested in that activity either, so we have basically opted out at this time.

So I guess it is up to the individual chapters.

Ah, i too signed up for the Linus PRoject. I haven't had any problems signing up. The woman i am to give my blankets too was very helpful. The only " glitch" for me was that i was hoping to have until summer to finish but the form said i had to chose a date within 60 days of registering. Not a big deal for me but for my DD ( who is sloooooooow at everything) i'm a bit concerned as our date is now in March.
Also, our coordinater said she was closing off her post for a while not sure if they can reopen it later or not.

Good Luck to all of you : 0 )

Thanks too for the help, I can't remember who it was who posted you could sign up for project linus in another state.

Well, here is my finished blanket.......
iphonepics.jpg

I went with the new princess Tiana princess: I followed the instructions to the letter, the fringe is a little shorter than I usually make (I do 4 inches) they wanted 3 inches. I think it came out very cute :worship: hope they like it!

That blanket is really nice...My blankets only have to be single thickness though, at least that's what is appears like on the directions, hmmmm.

Yeah, it seems to depend on the chapter if you need single or double-thickness. One here close to us required double-thickness fleece and NO solid colors, and another chapter a bit further away just had size requirements, but nothing was said about thickness. Just to be on the safe side, we went ahead and did the double-thickness ones, even though there were directions on the site for no-sew single ones.

I do think it depends on the chapter. I have 2 near me and one chapter only requires 1 blanket per person and another says 2 blankets per person. No indication if fleece should be double sided...I just bought 1 layer as it is warm here in Florida. Also...both chapters said not to put knots in the loops of the fleece blankets because most of the blankets go to the pediatric hospitals and the knots dig into the children's skin when they lay on them.

Thank you soooo much. I tried again this morning and it worked the very 1st time! The top part of the link in the email said something about "startup" so I made sure I clicked the 2nd line of the link and it worked like a charm. That is why it kept taking me back to the original start up page. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
