Girls Trip Take 2 - Labor Day Weekend 2021, Christmas 2021 and July 2024 Trips

Hi Vanessa! I’m trying to catch up around here - you’ve had so many updates!

Jenny! I'm so happy you're back on the boards. I'm signed onto your report, but need to get caught up.

First, I’m so sorry to hear about the car accident! I’m glad you and Danielle are okay, but what a scary and frustrating thing to occur. Hopefully things continue moving forward in the right direction for you.

We found out yesterday that we're back to 50% at fault. The witness statements did not work out. It's still better than being 51% or more at fault.

Second, I’m so happy that Danielle was able to come home for Thanksgiving! That must’ve been so fun and was so special after a four year (!) absence during the holidays.

We had such a good time getting to visit with her twice within a month here.

I loved reading about your summer trip! You accomplished a ton with such a big group and several small kids. I appreciated your description of the AoA suites as I just booked a spring break trip with a Lion King suite. I’m surprised about your housekeeping issues - when we stayed at the Poly villas and BCV last May, they emptied the trash every day when they did the daily room check. I didn’t expect that as we were staying on points and shouldn’t have gotten trash and towel service until day four. Perhaps different resorts are run differently? (Which is annoying but not a complete surprise?)

The summer trip was a lot of work, but worth it. You're going to love the Lion King suite. That's the only one we haven't stayed in yet. AOA is considered a Value resort so housekeeping is still every 3rd day. You lucked out on your stay to be treated like you're staying in a Deluxe and not DVC.

I’m thrilled Dennis loved Topolino’s - I agree that they have excellent food in a lovely location. It’s too bad Danielle had the water incident at Via Napoli, but I’m glad it was only water! I’m also glad you found great seats at Fantasmic without needing to get the dining package. It sounds like it worked best that way.

We did have some good meals.

Danielle did a great job scoring lightning lanes with the new system!

She has fast fingers.

Finally, I have to give major props for your coordinated outfits! Michelle is an A+ Disney bounder, and the rest of you did a great job, too. I especially loved your Moana coordinated outfits and your and Michelle’s Donald and Daisy outfits at Topolino’s. Nice work!

Michelle is the Queen of Disney bounding. She keeps me on my toes.

Yes, we've been back for almost 2 weeks and I'm just getting back on the boards.

It's been really busy since we came home so it's taking me a bit to get back into a routine.

We had a great trip and made lots of memories. I think the highlights were the Savor the Savanna Tour and Hoop Dee Doo Review. There were also some low lights but the highs way out numbered the lows.

I'm going to try and get caught up on everyone's reports in the next few days.
And welcome back. :)

I'm sorry I disappeared again. I have been trying to keep my mouth sealed and not spill the beans until it was official.

If you follow Danielle on Instagram, you might have seen a post she put on her stories saying her last day at Backlot was February 22nd.

It's her official last day in Studios because she starts at Epcot on February 23rd. She is moving to Festivals! She is so excited and we're excited for her. If you have followed along with our trip reports, you know she has been wanting to move positions for a while and it finally worked out. The official notification in the Disney system went out this week.

Not too long after we last visited with her the call to leaders to put their name in the hat if they wanted to move went out. She put her name in, with her proprietor's knowledge and support. Within a few days she had an email from one of the proprietors of Festivals asking her to interview the very next day. Festivals is so big that it has 2 proprietors. The interview ended up being virtual due to one of them working from home that day. She felt it went really well. They wanted to interview her due to her background with Festivals. When she went back to Disney to finish her College Program, she worked at Festivals front of the house and stocking. When she called me to tell me about the email for the interview she was in tears, happy tears. She loved working Festivals. Her core friends are all friends she made while working Festivals. She also still knows people working Festivals. I was lucky enough to meet her favorite Leader when I visited her April 2022. Festivals is more than just food too. There is so much that goes into each Festival. She was told when she interviewed that there wasn't a position available yet but one would be coming up and they would be interviewing more people. Her interview was on a Friday. She had her normal Tuesday & Wednesday off, but when she went into work on the Thursday her proprietor told her Festival was taking her. We could not say anything for weeks while the official Disney wheels turned.

I'm so happy for her! I'm happy for me too, I love Epcot Festivals. She starts training on Sunday and will be doing training for 2 weeks. She will be working the opening of Flower and Garden but still training.

So, of course my next thought is when can I visit her for a festival. I already had a trip with Robin, my friend I took my spring trip last year and fall trip the year before with. We are now finalizing some of those plans. We want some Disney time, but we will be doing Universal since we have tickets for the opening of Epic.

We don't know what her schedule is going to look like yet and won't know until she is finished with training. She was told that working Festivals has a different vacation limitation than working other leader positions. She can't take a vacation right before the start of a Festival or within the first 2 weeks. We're going to have to rethink our holiday trips since we're also limited by the CMs being blocked out of parks at holidays too. We're kind of playing around with doing a Christmas trip around the middle of December. That should fall after the limit of 2 weeks at the beginning of a festival and before the Christmas block out.

If anyone is going to Flower and Garden keep your eyes out for Danielle. She won't be stuck in the kitchen like she was at Backlot.

::yes::
Was wondering.
"Is she leaving Disney??"

Oooohhh... nice!

That makes sense.

Might be at least 4 years before I go, but... :)

SO exciting!!!! When she posted on IG, I asked where to next? and she said Epcot, but not specifically where. Festivals must be such a fun area to work, especially because it changes throughout the year! I'm so excited for her, and YOU!, too! My Mom and I are visiting in May before our cruise and were toying with adding and Epcot day, but we decided to just stick with one park day. I'll have to keep my eyes out for her in December when we're there for Christmas!

How exciting for Danielle! I can only imagine all that goes into the Festivals! I will have to look for her, I will only have a little taste of F&G this trip coming up, however, I am doing a short solo trip the end of April to enjoy my favorite festival!

How very exciting for her and you both! YAY!

It's very exciting. Epcot is her favorite park too. I don't think she'll get bored there. I keep wondering what do they do between festivals? There's not much time between FARTS and F&G or even between Holidays and FARTS, but what about between F&G and Food & Wine?

I'm really hoping we can cross paths. Is the 22nd your park day? This is the opening for Epic and I know we'll be there. We should be at a Disney park on the 21st.

I'll have to keep my eyes out for her in December when we're there for Christmas!

Please stop and say hello. She really enjoys interacting with you. She knows who Miss Jackie is.

I can't wait to get a little inside look at it through her eyes.

That is just awesome - Congratulations to Danielle. When I saw the IG post, I was wondering too if she was leaving, but glad it is really exciting and something she wants to do.

Vanessa, that’s great news about Danielle! I’m so excited for her! I think I’d be able to recognize her… I’ll be sure to say hello if I do! We plan to spend two of our park days in Epcot soaking in all the Food & Wine goodness. :goodvibes

We'll be at Disney Springs and resort hopping on the 21st, then at MK all day on the 22nd. Park open to close, I imagine, LOL! I know that's Epic day--you must be SO excited!!! I can't wait to hear all about it!
