Cell Phone Call Saves Girls Surrounded By Rattlesnakes
Rattlesnake Trapper Finds 25 To 30 Snakes In Area

LIVINGSTON, Montana -- Two Colorado girls vacationing in Montana used a cell phone to call for help after finding themselves on a hillside infested with dozens of rattlesnakes.

Izzy Effler, 13, and Morgan Beadwell, 12, climbed a hill in Livingston to try to get cell phone reception.

However, while climbing, Izzy said a rattlesnake struck at her.

Morgan also reportedly stepped on a snake.

The girls then discovered that they were surrounded by six rattlers and used the phone to call for help, according to the report.

Brian Effler and his nephew eventually rescued the girls after shooting two of the snakes.

A rattlesnake trapper said he saw 25 to 30 snakes in the area.

The girls were not injured.

I thought it was bad enough when my SIL had a snake crawl out of her basement fireplace yesterday!!!:earseek:

I would have died right then and there because I would have fainted!!::yes::

Thank God for cell phones and the presence of mind to use it!!!

Wow! That's frightening!! I'm glad the girls are okay.

I love snakes we have rattle snakes here in Ontario up by our cottage and also just down in Essex county near Windsor Ontario. We have the Massasauga Rattler here.

Sounds like it was wanting to use the cellphone that got them into the trouble in the first place. Maybe it's a useful lesson not to wander off into the wilds when you don't know what's out there or how to deal with the local wildlife.

Yep that would have been me. We hiked a rocky mountain on 4th of July. When I got home and looked it up on the internet it said it was a haven for Timber Rattlesnakes, to be very careful! People come to watch the snakes sun on the rocks. This is after we ate lunch on a pile of rocks! We had no idea!!

Once again setting a record for running.....seriously they are so lucky they were not seriously hurt. Arrggg with my luck the scraming I would have done would have incited a rattle snake riot against me!
