Hello fellow student! :wave2:
I'm a transfer student at Cal State Fullerton working on my bachelors in Business administration.

Wow. Thats cool. I think Cal State Fullerton is where I want to transfer for a Bachelors in Sociology and a Masters in Counseling unless Macy's pulls through and puts me into management then it will all change. How's CSUF?

Vanessa, we have all ages. You may be officially the youngest, but only because Cristabel just turned 21.

I am one of the oldies, but I don't act it!!

AmySue

Lol. Im not 21 until July so I have some time left to be a kid still.

Welcome Vanessa! :cheer2::yay::cheer2:

Wow, it sounds like you have a lot going for you. What a fun time in your life! I'm going to college too, getting my Masters in Elementary Education, and a few of the other girls also go to college. :thumbsup2

Thats cool. What do you want to do in the Elementary schools? That sounds exciting. I think being bale to interact with little ones would be a fun job. :teacher:

I LOVE the idea of cookie baking etc. My mom used to get invited to one of those parties where you had to bake 12 dozen cookies and then you went and exchanged with others. It was really fun!
I'm having a cookie exchange on Monday with some girls from work, I should get started on my 8 dozen cookies:)

Me too...... Well, truthfully I'd really appreciate it if everyone else could bake a dozen cookies for me and I didn't have to :lmao: Any volunteers???? I'll give you a hug :flower3:
Do you like shortbread? Thumbprint cookies? Maple cookies? Butter Tarts?
I will be making them all very soon!

Ok here is my little vent for the day. Our old PTO president is no longer at our school (her kids are all in middle school now :snooty: ) so our new PTO president decided to change our yearly and most profitable fundraiser. We use to sell chocolate, $5 a box and we made 1/2 of that in profit. Well this year she decided to do this Reindeer Lane gift store :sad2: its a bust. However, the kids are really loving the fact that mom, dad, grandma, grandpa or whomever has given them money to buy presents. The only problem is the items are dollar store quality for crazy prices. We only make 20% of our total sales. That is not even going to be close to the $5600 we made on candy last year. The other thing is I can only imagine the looks on parents faces Christmas morning when the family is opening these presents and they are like we spent HOW MUCH on these things????? :scared1:
Our school does a Christmas Store but everything is donated, including the wrapping paper. I've gotten some interesting things but the kids love keeping the secret until Christmas. Usually there's a lot of mugs, cute ornaments, books, perfume samples. They only charge 25-50 cents for each present.

After reading the first page I think we have an idea of what we want to do. The Scavenger Hut and Meet and Greet is going to be fun and we cant wait to hang out will all of you in the park. :yay:

Welcome Vanessa!

Good morning and Happy Thursday divas!

First off Welcome Vanessa! I hope you and your friend make it! You will love this group! They are all a great group of gals! Last year was my mom and I's first year and we had a BLAST! I am so looking forward to going again! Can't wait to meet you. I am one of the "oldies" too but I try not to act it either ;)

Amy Sue you were sure on a roll last night! LOVE it! I know all about the stupid CEU's. Mom is a realtor so she has to do them and when I was in legal I had to do them as well. BLAH! I agree with Stace, find another week or class! We NEED our Amy! You are just too much fun GF not to be there!!!

And YAY for Tracy coming even if it's only one day! And heck the meet and greet is the best part anyway so I am glad you can come for something!!

You guys talking about another Vegas trip are making me SO jealous but dh won't let me go since "we" haven't been together yet. He says it's not fair. SOOO until he and I go I won't be going solo. :( I would LOVE to go though but oh well. June is a hard time for me anyway cuz if it is the beginning school is still in and otherwise we have SO much going on with swim team. Someday I hope to join you gals though. That is MY kind of time! I might even break my no alcohol rule for that one! ;) Plus I GOTTA meet Marcie. She sounds like my kinda gal! Lots of fun!!! :)

Anyway I am off to hopefully finally finish what is left of my laundry, yes I had THAT flippin much LOL, and then I have to go buy a birthday gift for the party Shelby is going to this weekend. Then tonight I am going to that ornament exchange so that should be fun. Then tomorrow mom and dad are leaving for Mexico for 10 days and then the fun REALLY begins NOT LOL. Holding down the fort Yippee! :) Oh well hopefully it will go fast. I wish I could trade places with them. I haven't been back to Mexico since 05!

Anyway hope everyone has a great day and maybe those last two people will get their stockings and we can open ours early hint hint Bethy! ;)

Capri, my dear, don't think that you are safe just 'cause you aren't my roomie!!!

OH CRUD......I'm on her radar! :scared1:

Thats cool. What do you want to do in the Elementary schools? That sounds exciting. I think being bale to interact with little ones would be a fun job. :teacher:

My goal is to be a teacher at the elementary level, although technically the elementary level includes the middle school years as well. I'm not sure what grade I would prefer teaching, but honestly, I'm not going to be picky. I'll be beyond grateful just to get my first job and my foot in the door towards tenure. But aren't kids just the best?!!! They really are a lot of fun. :goodvibes

So, we FINALLY put up our Christmas tree yesterday evening. The boys have been begging and begging because they just love to put on the ornaments and decorate it. It looks so pretty. :santa:

My mom and dad are flying home tomorrow, so I need to get their place ready for them today.....turn on the hot water, the ice maker, the heat, bring out their Christmas tree and set it up in their family room (as a surprise for them so they have something pretty to see when they get home), and make their bed up with fresh, clean sheets. I also need to stop at the store and pick up a few basics to put in their fridge, plus I need to get something easy to make for dinner. I know mom is going to be tired after traveling and won't feel like making a big meal from scratch. I wonder what I should get? Poor dad.....I hope he starts to improve again once he sees his cardiologist on Monday.

Then on Friday, I have to pick my mom and dad up at the airport. Justin is scheduled to work all afternoon that day (at Ace Hardware), so I'm going to have to pick up our boys at school a couple hours early before heading to the airport because otherwise, no one would be home when our boys got home from school. Of course, our boys don't mind leaving school early in the slightest, and then getting to pick up grandma and grandpa at the airport really excited them, so they're pretty stoked about it all. This all sounds easier than it really is though because my dad can barely walk, so getting him in and out of the car without him falling could be....tricky. He has a walker, but he falls a lot, so I'm a little worried.

Through everything, I have to do my daily homework, and then on Saturday, I have a paper due, which prior to Saturday, I won't have any time to write, so it should be a day of panic to get it done at a quality to earn an "A". And I have another paper due on Monday. Hmmmm, a weekend filled with writing papers. How.......fun? :upsidedow

And......BRRRRRRR.......it's only 16 degrees outside right now (8:00am).

I like all of the above :thumbsup2 I'm trying to find a good bakery around here for cookies and pies, but I haven't found anything.... You know of any? I don't like grocery store types ones (OK, that's what I normally get though because I can't find anything else.....)

Yowza, sounds like you're going to be B-U-S-Y!!!! Have fun and that is a super nice thing to do for your parents :thumbsup2

Good Morning Girlies!

Welcome Vanessa!

AmySue, I hope you can find other ways to get your units, so you can be with us.

Capri, I am so impressed by all you do! Taking care of your family and your parents, and then going to school on top of that is just amazing to me. I went back to school to get my BA as an adult, and I know how difficult it was.

Well today is spaghetti and meatball day, so I'm off to make that along with salad and rolls for my Thursday group. We're expecting about 60-70 people today. Have a great morning ladies!

Happy Thursday everyone and welcome Vanessa!

I just wanted to say hi since I am currently avoiding working on my self evaluation. I am at the point where I need to write about my areas of improvement and I am just not motivated to do so. Perhaps combatting my "lack of motivation" should be an area that I work on this next year :rotfl2:

Have a great day!

Lol!! That is definitely a leap of faith.

:jumping1:

Welcome Vanessa! I am glad you have decided to join us! It's a pretty fun group of ladies, as you can see!

Sarah - new clippie! :yay:

Thanks for noticing!

Lol. Im not 21 until July so I have some time left to be a kid still.

:

There are a bunch of us with July birthdays here, it is a good month!

I'm having a cookie exchange on Monday with some girls from work, I should get started on my 8 dozen cookies:)

See I am being nice by only having people bring 5 dozen! You make butter tarts? So, I am having a cookie exchange sunday if you want to come! I live right over the border into the states from BC! It will be fun!

And......BRRRRRRR.......it's only 16 degrees outside right now (8:00am).

Wow, and I though it was cold here! Guess I was wrong!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Sarah

Gooooood Morning to the most beautiful Diva's ever!!!! Hope you all are having a good day!

Today I have Ayden's conference with his teacher. I'm looking forward to it. I just wish I had a better connection with his teacher. She's just shy and hard to communicate with.

Welcome Vanessa:cheer2:

So so so I've been looking at flight times, dates etc etc. I reallly need this trip. I'll have my taxes done by then so really what's wrong with a little reward for myself? :lmao:

Have a great day everyone!:grouphug:

Can I just say I love you all in a quick drive-by hi?

Ok so I am back from my shopping and Shelby wanted me to get her friend a webkin but of COURSE the walmart that is closest to my house didn't have them so I had to get a little pet shop animal. They do online stuff too. Hopefully that will work  I got the gift receipt just in case :rolleyes1

Anyway I DID remember to try and get Katy's twilight stuff and wouldn't you know they didn't have THAT either. I should have just bit the bullet and drove to target! They have webkins AND the twilight birthday stuff. That's what I get for not wanting to drive. I also went to the post office and Callie no visitor! I will let you know as soon as it arrives though!!

I didn't have ANY mail which was surprising since I didn't even GO yesterday. Heck I usually at LEAST have a bill or 2 LOL! But I'll take it! ;) Anyway I am back and just chilling till I have to pick up the girls. I watched the first bridget jones which was too funny! Great chick flick and I am sure most of us can relate!! Prob will watch the 2nd one today! See ya!

Welcome Vanessa! Looks like you got a good taste of our zany group last night. Amy Sue needs to drop by and chat more often! :rotfl:

Yea, Janelle wants to sleep in the bathtub!!! :cool1: I'm so glad you're still working on making it happen! :goodvibes

Can I just say I love you all in a quick drive-by hi?

Love you too, Cheryl!

I also went to the post office and Callie no visitor! I will let you know as soon as it arrives though!!

Maybe it was just too early today?? Hopefully you'll see Stan the Man tomorrow. :thumbsup2

It's another gorgeous, clear, COLD day here in the PNW! Loving the sunshine and soaking it up as much as possible.

The doctor I met with yesterday was awesome. Such an easy, real person. She was trying to show me some exercises for my sciatica (can I just say "butt"? Cuz, really, that's what it is). So, I'm face down on the table and she's sitting on the floor holding my leg (which is hanging off the side of the table) and twisting it in all sorts of strange ways and she says, "I'm not sure I know what I'm doing" and we are both just cracking up! She could tell that my pelvis is out of alignment, and so she is having me work on exercises to straighten it. In the meantime she gave me more Flexeril for the pain, and I'll go back to see her again in a couple weeks if my butt is still hurting.

My mom wrote my gramma's obituary yesterday, so I was on the phone with her quite a bit while she was working thru it. My gramma wanted to be cremated, and did not want a funeral. So my mom will go back to Iowa in the late spring when she and her sister can spread Gramma's ashes in the several places she requested.

I just booked Dan airfare to Phoenix in January to do maintenance on our rental house. It's cheaper for him to fly down and take care of it rather than pay someone else to do it. We just got a bid on trimming our trees and it was $1,000! That's nuts! The RT fare is $150, and it will just take Dan a day to trim all the trees and another day to do some other light maintenance work plus visit with his parents and our old neighbors.

Ok, that's the most chatty I've been in a while. I better get back to schooling the kiddos. . .

TTFN!

I, for one, just hate all the wink wink nudge nudge stuff. Why? Because, I never get it. I am the awkward one with the bemused expression laughing because everyone else is, but not getting it. I haven't seen a lot of Seinfeld episodes, so missed this one. What am I missing? I suck at Suduko too!!!:dance3:

AmySue

I never watched Seinfeld either so I have no idea what those sayings are all about either !:confused3

I

I can't do a trip report as I am genetically unable to post photos on the Disboards. It's true, the inability is stamped into my DNA. You can't fight nature.

Amy Sue

I was pretty sure I'd never figure out how to post pictures here but Beth helped me with it. Now I can do it but I have to go back and read my notes every time. If I can learn any one can !!!:wizard:

Callie--my sciatica derives from the piriformis muscle group in the "rear"--it gets like a hard knot and is very painful--the sciatic nerve runs right under it. The best I can describe it is that on each side it's "in the middle" of the butt. My massage therapist suggested sitting on a tennis ball to massage it out--just in case you're having that issue too.

When I did my self eval, my boss told me I was way to hard on myself.

Can I just say I love you all in a quick drive-by hi?

Love you too!!!

You better save some of that flexeril for me..if I sleep in the tub I'm going to need it!:rotfl:

Isn't flexeril the best :cloud9:

I just got done reading about all you ladies and your girls only trip and I have to say im so jealous! what could be funner than doing DL with a bunch of girls who share the same passion as you?!?! I wish I could go this year but we already have a trip scheduled and my husband would throw a fit if I went twice in one month lol :rotfl:
Is it too early to sign up for the next trip? there probably isnt one planned yet,BUT when you all plan one, I would love to go! :woohoo:
