Girls Only Trip. OLD THREAD! Please see first post for link to new one, thanks!

I just stumbled upon this thread and while I have never taken a non-family trip, it sounds like so much fun!! I am much more of a Disney addict than anyone in my family and they pretty much tolerate my habits, so the chance to get away with a group that "gets it" would be wonderful!

I'm hoping there's still room to join in?? I need to go back to the first page and read the details but time off is not an issue. I'd just need to line up arrangements for the munchkins.

Can I join the group? I read all darn 91 pages of posts, so I feel like I know some of you already. Although, I did notice there is another Amy. Maybe I will have to be "Amy2"?

Girl, if you read all 91 pages of posts, we will nominate you Head Mousketeer of the next Girls' Only trip! :rotfl2:

Welcome Amy2! :welcome: We are always excited to meet fellow Disney addicts and we definitely "get it" so you will fit in perfectly! :grouphug:

I'm sure Beth will add your name to page 1 and then just keep checking in here for future planning. . .

There's plenty of room to join in with the ladies! We'd LOVE an Amy2 in our group! WELCOME!

WOW - you read all the pages?!?! I'm exhausted just thinking about it!

Hi Welcome Amy. I believe this year's trip we had people decide to join the group in Feb and Mar. The more the merry, right ;) .

Hi Amy!! Absolutely you can join the group. It's never too late and there is always room!! :dance3: Especially if you read all the pages!! :rotfl:

I received your PM and will send you one back. In the mean time, welcome to the group!!!

Hi Amy2--Welcome!

My houseguests left this morning, so cat #2 can finally come out from under the bed! (actually, he's come out the last two evenings and even jumped up on my one friend's lap~) Other than that we went to the OC Fair on Saturday and the Lilo and Stitch breakfast on Sunday. Yesterday they went back to the beach while I worked and then we went to Souplantation last night with our sorority sister who came up from San Diego. Whew! I'm tired (and full!)

So, back to the usual routine--I for one am ready for it. Wish we were having rain here--it is more humid than usual.

Hope everyone's having a great week!

Good almost afternoon everyone.:flower3:

Well, I started a diet today. I keep gaining weight little by little, and my clothes are getting quite snug, so I decided I MUST do something about it NOW before it becomes an even bigger challenge. (Bigger being the key word here. :goodvibes )

So far today I've eaten some plain snap peas in the pods (which I love for some reason) and some blueberries. Now I'm drinking some unsweetened ice tea (black tea), which I drink A LOT of everyday (both black tea and green tea).....between 2-3 quarts a day.

Now I've just got to stay positive and stay on track.:cheer2:

Thanks for the warm welcomes all.

And I am so with you on the above statement!! I have had a little bit of extra stress in the past year with a move, new job, and grad school, and I have an extra 25 pounds since then to demonstrate my stress eating ability.

We are taking a family DLR trip in Oct and I am determined to lose weight before then.

Of course, this plate of chinese food in front of me doesn't help..lol.

I splurged on a big helping of chinese food a couple of days ago because I knew I was going to start a diet soon. YUMMY!:rotfl:

Well, we can support each other in our weight loss challenge then, since you want to lose a few pounds too.:thumbsup2

As of today, I've now had snap peas in the pod, blueberries, and some homemade tomato soup, and LOTS of iced tea. So far, so good.:cheer2:

So you just moved recently to Vegas then? I was noticing your screen name, and I thought that you were an ER nurse in Montana, but I see you live in Las Vegas.

I'm been slowly, and I do mean slowly, cutting out the unhealthy food. Tomorrow my sister, her DBF, and myself are going on Jay Robbs 3-day fruit diet, where we can only eat fruit for 3 days. The testimonials say people have last up to 9lbs! I'd love that, it'd be a great boost to my metabolism. This is the real start of our diet-soon-to-be-lifestyle-change. I'm also taking the challenge to drink half my weight in water (in oz) that's ALOT of water.

Good luck to you! I love blueberries as well as unsweetened iced tea, it's a nice break from water and you're detoxing your liver and kidneys:thumbsup2

Hi Cheryl, I was wondering where you'd been.
Aww, poor kitty. LOL Sounds like the cat we had in MI, he was very skittish around strangers but so friendly with us. :goodvibes

How was the breakfast? Did you like it?
I love Souplantation. We don't have one here, but we have a Sweet Tomatoes which is owned by the same company and has the exact same set-up. YUM!!

Hey Capri. Good for you!!!! :cheer2: Sounds like you've gotten off to a great start! I know you can do it.

I've been trying to lose weight too. It's so hard. I've lost 20 lbs so far, which is just a teeny, tiny drop in the big bucket of what I need to lose, but it's a start. We can support each other. :thumbsup2

Hi Amy. I love Chinese food too. That's one of the things I save for my treat days since there is no way I could give it up altogether. ;)

There are quite a few of us going in October. Are you planning on doing the Trick or Treat party?

Hey Sarah!! How was your 4th?? I was wondering if you survived all the madness and heat! :rotfl2:

Ok--so I'm on board for the weight loss/get healthier thing too. My bone density test came back and of course I'm pre-osteoporosis. So I have to go tomorrow to the doc and get Boniva or Fosamax or whatever. On top of the anemia and Vit. D decifiency. (As I told my assistant--the closest I get to milk is ice cream! LOL) In addition, I need to work out and do some weight training to strengthen my bones. I have no excuse--I am a member of TWO gyms that I never go to, have an exercise bike in my bedroom (great to hang Disney bags on) and have a pool! I really want to get to the point where I can do D-land all day without having to rent a scooter (right now if I go all day I'd be done for the following day--when I do go out for half days--like Sunday mornings--I don't rent one). So I'm in with you gals!

Well how cool is this?!!! A bunch of us on the weight-loss/getting healthy train together.

Beth - way to go on losing 20 pounds! That's awesome!:cool1:

Cheryl - I'm so glad you found out about being pre-osteoporosis before you acutally had osteoporosis. Being proactive about your healthcare is a great step to being proactive about your health.:woohoo:

Christabel - way to go on eating healthier!:yay:

And there's Amy#2 and me on the train too! (bad grammar but who cares:goodvibes )

I feel like we have a support team here! I know we can do it!:cheer2:

I'm off to start dinner. I'm having grilled chicken breast and steamed broccoli.

Hi Ladies!

Welcome Amy2! :thumbsup2

Looks like many of us are watching our weight. I've been doing Weight Watchers Core Plan online and I definitely recommend it. Really helping me to change what I eat to more healthy complex carbs, etc. I've also decided to train for my first half marathon - which I signed up for in Huntington Beach Feb 9 :scared1: I've been training for a couple of months and am only up to 4 miles, but somehow will get to 13 miles in the next half year. Anyone care to join me for the Huntington Beach run? :cheer2:

That's a great goal, of not having to rent a scooter!! And it sounds like with the gym memberships and the bike, you've already got the tools you need to start working at it. :cheer2:

That's great!! Wow, a marathon. I'm a long ways from anything like that, but good for you. :cheer2:

We do! You can never have too much support when it comes to losing weight!! :thumbsup2 Your dinner sounds great. Good choice.

You know, if there is going to be several of us trying to lose weight or do marathon training or whatever, maybe I could start a thread over on the WISH board. :confused3

One of the ladies that went on the WDW Ladies-only trip started a thread before that trip and it worked out really well. That way we can all support each other and talk about what works, what doesn't, share tips, etc. without bogging down this thread. We could even pick a weigh in day and share how we did, or share whatever other goals you have. :confused3 It doesn't even have to be about just weight loss, you can post your exercise goals or just post healthy eating recipes.

Anyone interested in that?

I'd be interested in joining in since I've been trying to lose weight for our Maui trip. I normally gain weight in the summers here since I'm so inactive, but I'm trying desperately to change that, especially since I have to be in a swimsuit for 9 days in September.

StacieLee turned me on to a little diet aid called Solo Slim which helped me for a while (I lost about 10 lbs on it in one month), and now I've moved on to a different one with Hoodia. Yep, I'm a diet pill girl -- please no flames or lectures. I know there are better ways to do it, this is just what is currently working for me. I'm also trying to do 30 minutes of Wii Fit every day.

So I'll join whatever thread y'all start over on WISH. Just give me a link! :goodvibes

I'm totally interested! Let me know where/when!:cool1: (Oh wait, the where is the WISH board, right?)

Callie, I'm right there with ya girl. I'm a diet pill rebel myself, although I take a prescription diet pill (phentermine). But my prescription is almost out, so then I may have to try something new.

But mostly I'm just trying to make healthy changes with diet and exercise to achieve my goals.

We can't afford a Wii right now, but I was thinking about getting a Dance Dance Revolution bundle (with the dance mat) for our Playstation 2. I'm not sure, but I thought maybe that would provide a fun, aerobic exercise.?

I'm all in for supporting each other...now I just have to find the wish board.

I've kept the screen name for years (it's actually my email, just add @aol.com to the end) and when I got it I was an ER nurse in Montana, but I've since been in Illinois, and now Vegas, I just don't have the heart to change the name as I looooooved Montana.
