Date of Visit: September 15-19, 2004 (15th and 19th were travel days only)
Characters: Me (Mom), DD#1 (age 15) and DD#2 (age 10) - From Massachusetts
Airlines: US Airways. Although they recently announce bankruptcy, we noticed no change in service. Plane was on time each time and service was very friendly.
Orlando Transportation: Murray Hill Transportation. Driver was Fritz -- Very nice but quiet. Was on time both at airport and for return to airport. Car was clean and comfortable. I would definitely use them again.
Resort: WDW Coronado Springs. This was our 1st stay at this resort. Previously we stayed several times at CBR and Poly. I like this one the best of the three! Pools and rooms are great. We were in section 7B, right around the corner from the quiet pool (which surprisingly, my kids liked more then the Dig Site Pool because it really was quiet!) and 3 min walk to Dig Site Pool and about 2 mins away from Bus stop #4. Long walk (at least seems long when feet are tired) to the main house where restaurants are located but we took the bus a few times. The staff also drives around and give you lifts on these great carts! My kids loved those! I like the rooms because they seem to know what I want - roomy, hairdryer, safe, iron and board, sink outside the actual bathroom and, my favorite, a curtain to separate the sink/bathroom area from the rest. This allowed me to get up earlier without the lights shining on those still sleeping, as well as giving us an extra dressing area. I had heard rumors of them adding refrigerators to the rooms but no, there was not one in mine. As we had no need for one, I didnt think to ask if there was any truth to the rumor. Housekeeping was very good and attentive to our requests and the room was very clean; including under the bed (which I looked when I was looking for my watch!). Pools were great!!! We loved the water slide. This resort is fun to stay at even if we werent going to the theme parks!
Theme Parks: We just went to MK (our favorite), the World Showcase section of EPCOT and MGM since we only had 3 full days. We had been to Disney several times although last trip was about 3 years ago so we went only where our favorites are. Wishes was absolutely the best fireworks show Ive ever seen. Had me and my oldest dd in tears! Its a must see!! The parks were the emptiest Ive ever seen. We walked on to most rides until about 1:00 each day. Then it got a bit crowded, but no where near what Ive seen in the past!! It was great! Dont know if it had anything to do with the hurricanes or the time of year but it was great to be able to do so much in such a short time because we didnt spend time in lines!!! BTW, the only damage we saw from the hurricanes was at the airport and some broken trees. WDW looks great! We also went Downtown Disney and enjoyed that very much!!
Restaurants: We went to the Pepper Market for breakfasts and 1 dinner. The food and service were both very good. I was a bit disappointed with the prices for Breakfast. $2.99 for OJ, $1.99 for coffee!!!! $7.99 for scrambled eggs, bacon and a biscuit. Almost $3 for a bagel!! I think this is rather steep!!! Yes, you get enough food but come on, I can buy 2 half-gallons of OJ for $3!!! I honestly think they are ripping a captive audience off here!! Also the idea of going around and having your card stamp is great, until you get the bill!!!! So be warned!!!
We did a character lunch with Winnie the Pooh and Friends at Crystal Palace. Food was great. Only saw Piglet until we were ready to leave but then got to see Tigger and a glimpse of Pooh. My girls, being older decided waiting to actually get a picture with Pooh wasnt worth it. They wanted to do the parks more. Also did a buffet dinner at Chef Mickeys. Food was GREAT (especially the mash potatoes and the BBQ ribs!!) We actually lucked out here. Did not have PS. We ended up here by mistake and decided to just see if we could get in. Our wait was about 5 mins!!!!! It was one of the best mistakes we made! We saw a lot of characters and really got to interact with them. We had a blast!!!!
Im not sure what else I can tell you. Service was up to Disney standards everywhere we went! We had a great time and cant wait to do it again. We did bring a Brita bottle as recommend, although I dont think Id do that again. It was very hot and the water you carry around gets hot fast, even in a insulated carrier. I think its better just to buy the cold water when its that hot so you can enjoy it. The fountain water we used in the parks were all too warm! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Ill do my best to answer. I would like to thank all of those who gave advise. Im sure it help contribute to our wonderful time.
