OK, just got a call from my guide (not Jim from Disneyland who never did get back to me).

Here's what he offered me for buying 100 VGC points:

OPTION 1: $8 off per point plus 3 day cruise category 8

OPTION 2: $14 ($8 discount, plus $6 discount since no cruise)

OPTION 3 (for Disney VISA purchase): $800 gift certificate plus two annual passes (at WDW or DL)

OPTION 4: $5 off plus matching developer points to be used by Oct. 3 (this incentive is expired, supposedly, but since I put in my request yesterday I can still get it)

Right now I'm thinking OPTION 3 is best.

Amy--I'm very interested to hear what you are hearing about incentives from Jim at DL.

I think OPTION 3 sounds best too. OPTION 4 would be my second choice.....that is if I was in the position to buy.;)

So how does the Disney VISA one work? Do you buy in with the VISA? And then you can get credits back from it?

I'm planning to make the add-on purchase of 100 points in two 50 point contracts (no financing) with my Disney VISA card. I think I may have the option of getting billed 1/2 this month and 1/2 cost next month. It's my understanding that I will get $800 gift card which can be applied to the purchase cost plus two Premium APs. Plus, I get a $1 Disney reward for each $100 spent on my Disney visa, so that's about another $100. This is for an add on for an existing DVC member and the incentives for new members are a little different.

I just sent my guide an email that we want to do it (option 3, that is), so hopefully will hear back soon.

Morning ladies! Congrats on the new tags! You wear them well.

Donna.. no i didn't go to the chinese gardens.. i got tired as it is a BIG estate.. and really wanted to make it to the Norton Simon Museum.
Plus once i saw how beautiful it was.. i knew i would be back.. i have to take my mother...she loves nature and gardens.:lovestruc

Definitely take your mom, book tea ahead of time, see the Chinese gardens as that is the new showpiece. You can also eat by the Chinese lake but it's takeout and not as fun as the tea.

Did you make it to the Norton Simon? Best collection of Indian sculptures outside of India.

Thankyou everyone for your CONGRATS!! Needless to say, we are all very excited!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes
It's also kind of hard too, cuz my eldest Son is unable to have children. So it is bittersweet for him and his wife. Hopefully some day, they can adopt a child, which I would love with every breath in my body just as much!!!
Someone famous said he had four childen and two were adopted. He forgot which two. :)

Stacie~ lookie

My world...hmmm...a whole lotta nothin...Just sittin here at work.
OH BUT I AM SO EXCITED!! MY TICKETS FOR KENNY CHESNEY CAME IN!!!!!
WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

:cheer2:

I think she's stalking me.

You give her such good material.

She said that Nathan is right on the edge between autism and PDD-NOS. She went ahead and gave us the autism diagnosis so that we can get more help. She really feels that with intense therapy this year, he can come out of it. Now, I just have to find this intense therapy.
Yesterday was a hard day that was made soooo much better by meeting my friend Stacie at the Rainforest Cafe. The kids were starving and so didn't enjoy the atmosphere as much as they had in the past, but I enjoyed the company. :) Thanks for meeting with us Stacie! We really enjoyed it.

Mel, I hear you about letting my mom help me, and I'm going to. There are still some things I need to do. I don't see my mom very often, and I hate the thought of making her work. You are right though, she wouldn't mind, and really wants me to get better. Stacie can tell you all, I'm feeling better. I don't have much stamina. I spent all my energy yesterday with her, and buying a few clothes for the boys. The boys and I slept on the way home. DH didn't mind. Anyway, I am better, just tired.

There is so much else I want to comment on, but don't have time right now.

Congrats Mel!

I love all the new tags...

Heather

That is wonderful that you're on the road to getting Nathan some help. It must have been a nice respite to see Stacie. This tired feeling is so typical of mono. Great that you've got your mom to help you. Moms love to do that sort of stuff. ;)

CHERYL - if you can tear yourself away from Jean-Paul <jk>, here is some d23 T shirt info.

One of mine arrived without the opening date on it (in my case it was the black one). I emailed Disneyshopping.com and got a call today. They would have sent UPS to pick it up but of course I paid to have it mailed back yesterday. They are issuing me one with the date, something I didn't think would be possible since these were sold out in many sizes that night and are only supposed to be issued if you ordered that opening day (which I did, but I didn't think they would have any left at this point).

So I say this in case you or anyone else here rec'd a dateless T.

Ah, Disney customer satisfaction comes through again!:cool1:

may i ask how much each point is?

and what the minimum buy in is at VGC?

I'm not asking to be intrusive..just to get an idea.. each time i try to figure it out by myself i get confuzzeled.. plus i've used old price info before.. so then my numbers were even more wayy off.. :rotfl:

i'm thinking maybe if i start savings i could buy in at the minium for a family christmas present?:confused3

orrrrrrrrrr maybe i will find out.. not at this time.

Donna.. yes yes... i think Norton Simon has a really beautiful statuary collection..my favorite museum in the area is The Bowers... i just think it has a great feel to it.. and they get such fabulous collections.
I will for sure remember to go for tea when my mother and i go. Although i think it would be fun to get chinese to go and eat it on the grounds..it's so spacious and lovely.

Debbie... That should be a Fun Concert!:yay::flower3:

Each VGC point is $112 before discount. I believe the minimum buy in is 160 points for a new member.

Here's a site with a good overview of current incentives.

My pleasure. :goodvibes
Good luck with figuring out if this makes sense for your family. I'm happy to answer any questions I can help with.

In case you haven't seen it, Nancy (YellowMickeyPonchos) is taking a roll call for Who's coming to DL to Celebrate with the DIS - Labor Day Weekend

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2130661

Should be a great meet! Sign up ladies!!
I wish I could, but since my Deluxe AP is blocked out that weekend, I'll be staying home and saving the money for a December trip instead.

Hope everyone going then has fun!! :wizard:

Tell me about the Bowers... I'm not sure if I've been there..?

The Chinese food wasn't very exciting, if I recall, but maybe they have more of a selection now. I think you had to eat it on their patio which overlooked that lovely lake. I have a feeling eating is not allowed other than at specific restaurant areas. I will check it out at some point and report back. '

Nap time for me then when I get back I will reset my title thing. I asked and nobody answered me so it must be glitch or coding problem. I wish I could keep the pretty colours though. I also have to undo stealth mode, never had one before and not sure how I turned it on.:lmao:

Donna... i've seen some of the most awe inspiring exhibits in my life at the Bowers Museum. They are based in Santa Ana.. and have a wonderful resturant onsite.
Last year they had the largest collection of Terra Cotta Warriors to ever be displayed. One year i saw Tibet.. the roof of the world... another was Mummies and at halloween.. they did a special candlelight tour of the mummy exhibit and a candlelight dinner. My husband and i went it was so kewl.. this wonderful egyptologist gave the small tour and it was so special as i've always been interested in egypt since i was 4.

Here is a link to the museum..
http://www.bowers.org/index.jsp

They also have a children's museum just down the street..
http://www.bowers.org/visit/kidseum.jsp

This year they have a kewl thing going.. On the first Sunday of every month, visitors to the Bowers can enjoy free access to the museum, Kidseum, and all activities all day, thanks to the Target Corporation. Target Free First Sundays are very popular and to prevent overcrowding, visitors may have to wait outside for admission. The Cultural Festival begins at noon and activities will run until 4:00PM.

Even though they have these powerful exhibits..they are small and unpretentious..making this exposure to rich history and different cultures accessible to many...i Love the Bowers Museum.:goodvibes

Alrighty..the twinikins are on their way... so it's time for this grandma to go prepare their play! We are having a tea party:goodvibes

Have a HaPpPy afternoon!

I got rid of that problem with my title. I could not remember what was supposed to be there so I replaced it with the truth.

Bower's is a great museum

Have fun with the kids, Fairykin.

Good Bye all
Laurie:surfweb:
