Girls in Costume at Epcot and/or AK?

I looked/searched around and couldn't find my question anywhere. My 7 yr. old DD still likes to dress up sometimes. I thought about taking her to Bippidi Boppidi Boutique, but it actually looks a little pricey for our liking. Since we are going soon after Halloween, I thought I would hit 2 birds with 1 stone since she wants to be Jasmine and take her costume with us and do her hair myself. We're from CA though and have been to DL often, so we aren't doing MK since it's very similiar. We're only going to Epcot and AK. Do the girls dress up at those parks like they do at MK and DL? or will she be out of place? It seemed like she is toward the top of the ages for BBB, will she be one of the oldest dressed up? WDW seems pretty different from DL, so I'd appreciate any input you could give me. Thanks!

DD (5) LOVES to dress up. She wore her Alice costume to Epcot to meet Alice. I have some great pictures of the two of them playing follow the leader, etc.

My family is going in January, my daughters ages 7 & 5 will be dressed as Aeriel (in her pink gown) and Cinderella at Epcot. We are planning on doing the princess breakfast Akershus. I will be doing the girls hair myself as well and have bought them some pink glittery lip gloss and pink eye shadow for the occasion. shh its a surprise. :wizard: In my opinion princesses are welcomed anywhere in WDW. princess:

Hi,

IMHO, if you can't dress as a princess: when you're a little girl and you're at WDW, then when can you?

My DD has just turned 6 and occasionally when we go shopping she might decide to put on a 'party dress', crown or wings (or, invariably, all three) - I say, why not?

They'll be grown ups (or worse, teenagers) soon enough :sad1: and won't want to do this.

Both my girls dressed as Princesses when we were in Epcot last year (they were 6 and 3 at the time). There are so many places to meet the Princesses in Epcot.

There are quite a few girls who dress up at Epcot, due in part to the fact that there are princesses in their respective lands at different times throughout the day, and also the akurshus breakfast.

fwiw, I've been to DL and MK and although many rides are the same, it's a completely different vibe, and even some of the "same" rides are actually different; i.e. HM, etc. Plus Cinderella's castle really is something special. If you can at all go to MK as well, I would highly recommend it.

Oh yes, she should dress up! And meet Jasmine at Morocco.

My DD4 likes to wear her hair like Jasmine's (4 ponytail holders holding the hair tight to the head and into a tail) but we haven't bought the harem outfit because I know she won't wear it, too scratchy.

Anyway, last time we went, she wore her 4 different Princess dresses on 4 different days to each of the parks....yep, Aurora was skipping through AK and going on the safari. She even wore her Ariel dress to the local production of HSM and Cinderella to dinner at Olive Garden.

Which is all to say, she will feel TOTALLY at home in Epcot with a princess outfit on. So many girls wearing them!

on my last trip I took princess dresses and regular clothes, I went home with a suitcase full of clean clothes because my daughter wore only her princess and disney outfits all week to all the parks, my son (2 at the time) also had a blast and wore his Mickey and Pooh outfit all week, will probably take more outfits for him this time as I didn't think he would want to dress up as much as he did, and he is already saying what he wants to wear for our trip this year, my DD will be 5 on this trip and also has all her outfits picked out (thankfully most still fit from last year:))

I see girls around age 7 all the time dressed up. Let her dress up if she wants to. It's vacation. I think EPCOT would be fine. As oth,

As others have said there are several places to meet princesses. Besides Jasmine in Morroco, we have seen Aurora, Snow White, Belle, Alice, and Mary Poppins in the World Showcase. (Yes I do know Mary Poppins and Alice are not princesses.)

AK, in my opinion, seems to be more humid than the other parks. I'm not sure if the jungle landscaping that has something to do with it, but I tend to get more oberheated and sticky at that park.

You will see girls dressed up at all the parks.

My DD dressed up to go to Epcot! There were little girls everywhere dressed up as all of the different princesses. She will not feel out of place at all. If you can, I would recommend the BBB! You can bring your own dress and just have her hair/makeup done for a pretty reasonable price. My daughter did that and she still talks about it 2 years later. The price is small compared to the memories she made doing it. And she still loves to look at the beautiful pictures that were taken once she was all done, she looked precious!

I didnt see it at AK, but we did see them at EPCOT since there are a lot of the Princesses there (CM will tell you that if you want to meet them EPCOT is the place to meet & greet).

Although she is younger than 7, my little munchkin has 9 costumes we are bringing for our next trip. My aunt sews and LOVES making costumes and my daughter loves wearing them. I hope she still does when she is 7 because the reactions are so much fun. When we go to AK she will be dressed as Pocohantas...even have the boots to go with it. Can you say obsessed? :cutie:

You're not going to MK?!? We visit DLR regularly (our 3rd trip this year is in a few days) ~ of our 8 days @ WDW 3 days (possibly 4) will be spent in the MK ~ + MNSSHP during our 2nd evening. I've given 1 day to AK, 1 maybe 2 to DHS & 2 days to Epcot.

My DD (6) will wear this on our AK day ~ http://ny-image1.etsy.com/il_430xN.83146657.jpg

This on one of our MK days ~ http://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_430xN.85969124.jpg

She also has several of the Disney Parks dresses/costumes (Jasmine, Alice, Tink & the white princess dress) which I purchased on eBay + the Cinderella Ballerina dress that disneydirect.com had earlier this year that we'll bring along. I'm also working on a Jolly Holiday Mary Poppins dress for her! I can't wait!

I'm loving all the comments/hints/and tips I'm getting. Thanks so much!! and please continue! I'm checking in regularly:love:

Unfortunately, we had to make choices of where to go to this trip and MK got knocked out. We are flying into Ft. Lauderdale for a cruise with my parents and decided to tack on a couple extra days and drive up to WDW to experience it finally. Hopefully it won't be out last trip! But since the kids are already out of school for a week for the cruise (and only a couple of the days are school vacations) we couldn't afford to have them out anymore time. It's too long out as it is:guilty:

Since we are from CA and go to DL and DCA regularly, MK and DHS seemed the obvious choices to knock out, since Epcot and AK are so different from DL, DCA, and Universal Studios. Believe me, I hope to go back soon (especially now that I understand researching deals!) for much longer. But I have to settle for 2 nights/2 days this time.:sad2: It's better than nothing! and will hopefully convince the DH that we need to go back soon!;)

Looking forward to more words of wisdoms regarding Epcot, AK, my DD-7, and princesses (and even my DS-10 is you wish:)!

PS - Loved the AK and MK dresses you linked!
