Has anyone got any experience of using a hairdresser whilst on hol - I'm thinking of 'wash and blow dry' rather than anything too adventurous. It's just that whilst on hol my hair takes forever - it's thick and curly!!

Before flying - I do the trip to the hairdresser thing hoping the blow dry will last as long as poss but it never lasts long enough! Then I have to manage it myself - when DH knows to keep out the way.

So for our next trip (8 day duration) I was thinking about using a hairdresser (part way through the trip).

Any tips ladies???
Thanks
 (Bad hair day)

Can't help I'm afraid - I found that the humidity and wearing a baseball cap all the time meant that any time spent trying to straighten my hair and wear it down was totally wasted. Always felt a wreck although other women looked perfectly presentable. Maybe THEY were the ones that HAD visited the hairdressers :rotfl2:

hi

i havent used a hairdresser over there but have been tempted- also to have my nails done. There is a hair place at the orlando premium outlets- i bought 2 hugh bottles of tigi shampoo and conditioner for $19.99 for both which i thought was good- there is also a nice looking salon at the mall of millenia i think a cut and blowdry was $35.

Yep - I've done the baseball cap thing (also good for water rides) but had hoped that this trip at New Year means that the humidity will be low and I can give the 'frizz control hair serums' a real try-out!

I had a set of acrylic nails done (for the first time) whilst in Orlando in June 2003. It seemed like just about everyone had a set and I had been thinking about getting them done. Cos it was 2 years ago I can't remember the price but I know it was quite cheap cos whilst I was having my nails done I could see clients having pedicures. They had purpose built leather reclining/massaging seats with a footspa!! I just had to give it a go! Felt great!! The salon was located at the junction of Vineland Ave and International Drive (behind Little Lake Bryan shopping centre) We were staying in Lake Buena Vista and we saw the shop on our way to Discovery cove and Seaworld.

I may put this same post on the main Trip Planning section and see if the US ladies have any recommendations.

As far as hair is concerned, the humidity nulifies any ahir dressing treatments. Its just a poneytail and baseball cap I'm afraid. I have, however had experience of the hairdressers at Beach Club resort - this was great - my friend had her hair done there last year. Expensive but good.

For Ladies, try Cut 'n Colour in the Crossroads Plaza near Downtown Disney. It is next to the Goodings supermarket and comes heavily recommended by my wife!

For gents (and this is an absolute top tip), try the new Carr's Barber Club experience (for haircut and shaves) at the Dr Phillips Marketplace just off Sand Lake Road. A real old-fashioned experience but with all mod cons. Highly recommended by me!

Cool - thanks for the recommendation SImon - we were looking for somewhere to have our wedding hair done...

:wave2:

Thanks for the suggestions. We know the Crossroads as we have stayed in LBV for our last few visits. I've added the details to our Planning Notebook.

There is a hairdresser at the Contemporary Resort
