I'm almost finished with the Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest

What did you think of this trilogy?

Liked it well enough. Didn't LOVE it.

The first story (tattoo) has a GREAT story, IMO, however, I did personally have issues with the translation and "word-wise" didn't find it an easy read. The sentence structure was just a bit rough.

The second book was also good and better translated. I didn't think the second part of the story was as much of a page-turner as the first, but better translated.

The third book was also well-translated but I found large parts of the book very boring. I did want to know how it all ended and Lisbeth's story is good but I wasn't in love with that book either.

I feel much the same way. There were so many parts that I ended up skimming through to get to something with substance. I'm about 80% of the way through the last book and just want to get to the end. It seems as if 20% of the book could have been edited out and not made a difference to the actual story.

I really enjoyed all three but I had the hardest time keeping the names straight. Especially in the third one.

I'm reading the first of the trilogy and almost put it down from boredom over the excessive use of names. It was like reading Tolkien with regard to the deluge of nonsense names of people, places and things that mean nothing to the reader, in a word, tedious. But, after a while it settled down and a story started to take shape which I am enjoying so far. My book is in the trunk of DH's car at work or I'd be reading it right now.

How do you like the rest of the series?

LOL, I started to respond while everyone else was writing the exact complaint and we all responded together. Whenever stuff like this happens I wonder whether or not the author had a good editor. Probably not if we all saw the same flaws.

I'm HOOKED. I started the first one and almost put it down after the first two chapters. So glad I didn't! Finished the first one, watched the movie, and now I'm halfway through the second one. I woke up at 2 a.m. this morning and couldn't go back to sleep, so I was reading then! I also get all of the names confused. I'm thinking about taking notes. :lmao:

I absolutely loved them. Especially the third, which seemed to bring everything full circle. I thought they were incredibly well-written, and one of the better female characters I have seen in a while. It is such a shame that there won't be any more.

I'm almost done with the second one right now. Both the first and the second book were the same for me - it took me about 1/2 of the book to get into it, then I couldn't put it down. My SIL has the 3rd waiting for me - she told me the 2nd one leaves you hanging and the 3rd one brings everything full-circle.

On the editing - I think it's that way because he died before the books were published. He sold all 3 books to the publisher at the same time, then died of a heart attach in 2004. So maybe the publisher didn't want anyone else to change the books. :confused3

Yes!

I'm on the second in the trilogy. The first one was a little hard to get into, but once I did I was hooked!

I think if you make it through the first, you're more patient with the author's style. So for me, the 2nd book was better than the first. But the third was still tough for me. The ending made it worth it.

Basically, you need to push throught the slower parts because it will be worth it when you're done.

I'm trying to read the girl with the dragon tattoo and I just can't seem to get in to it.

I felt the same way. I was having trouble, but I kept reading and then didn't want to put it down. It does start slow, but gets better.

I have only ever put down one book without finishing it. That was Angelology by Danielle Trussoni. It was very difficult to read and I just could not finish it.

I can't wait to get the next in this trilogy.:thumbsup2

The first two are on my kindle; I keep trying to read the first one but I get bored and buy something different.
