Girl Scout Ethical Question

Many of you know that our Girl Scout Council is giving me fits about not being able to do any fundraising from Aug 1st til Dec 13 due to United Way's efforts. Severely hampers our money raising for our Disney trip.
Saturday, the next town over, still in our council, had a Victorian Art Fair. Who do you suppose was doing fundraisers? Thier Girl Scouts! I was told by the head of marketing for Girl Scouts of Mitten Bay that absolutly no fundraising can go on now, or they will take the trip away, etc.
So here's the question....I really REALLY want to call her up and say "how come they can and we can't?" That would be like tattling, I guess, but it's so unfair for everyone else to fly under the radar but my girls get into trouble. So, should I tell?
I am so mad I could spit.

Here is a suggestion so that you are not looking as if you are tattling - get with your service unit manager or neighborhood chair and explain what you have been told. Then tell her that you would like her to find out about this. Tell her that you saw such and such troop doing a fundraiser project - or what appeared to be one - in the next town over this weekend and you need to know what is going on as far as fundraising rules now. If she does not want to do this or get involved - which she should, that is what she is there for - then you need to get in contact with your membership director. Tell her what you saw this weekend and that you need to know what the rules really are because you have a trip at risk here.

That is why I suggested not putting anything in reference to Girl Scouts on anything on the side that the parents might be willing to do - don't make any remarks to donations going to your troop. I still can't get over these guidelines and I really wish I could help more. For now - you are in the right checking out this because they need to hold the rules to everyone!!!! If it were me, as a service unit manager, I would want to find this out for you and help you and the girls to be able to go on this trip. You also should be letting her know what you have been told regarding fundraising so she can be in the "know" and be available to help you. If she won't - then come to my council!!!!! I'm so sorry this is happening to you - you have a right to be splitting mad!

I just went and visited your council site and they have that this year was the 90th Birthday - no wonder they can't be consistent with this fundraising thing - they can't even count...... sorry - that was rude.
