So our troop crop between my troop and WDWMoms has been mentioned a couple of times and I thought some of you might be interested in how it went. And then again you might not! :o

After getting stuck in construction on the way WDWMom's troop arrived at my house about 4 pm. My main floor is set up in that sort of circular traffic pattern that has the living/dining area going off to one side of the entrance, the kitchen straight ahead and then you can also enter the kitchen area from the diningroom.

We set the girls up at 3 tables in the living/dining area and the 4 adults worked at the kitchen table. There was great noise and chatter and typical a lot of side by side work. We ordered in pizza at supper time. Completed pages ranged from 1 to about 8 I think was the top number. One of Sue's girls worked like a nonstop maniac.

Around 8 pm the girls moved into a sort of icebreaker game as their attention span was beginning to taper off so they were able to get to know each other a little more.

We did the whole clean up routine about 8:30 and then shared pages completed.

All in all everyone seemed to have a good time and we may even look at repeating the event if we can manage to coordinate schedules!

I know I have read some earlier comments about your Girl Scout troops, so thank you for the update. I don't remember what age the girls are, but I think it is wonderful that you leaders are willing to give so much time for these girls to focus on something positive. I have fond memories of my Girl Scout years.

Our girls are in 7th and 8th grade. Mine in 7th and Deb's in 8th. On the way home all my girls talked about was how they could come up with a scrapbooking badge. They brainstormed and came up with some great ideas. I think they want to do a troop own badge. All their idea so it was great.

BTW, my girls had a great time. Probably should have done an icebreaker first but hindsight is 20/20. They did mention doing it again. Couple of them want to go to a LSS to do it though. Being it was the first time for a couple of my girls, they wanted a less limited choice of materials.

Thanks again for hosting Deb. I like the idea of this summer. I can do it down here and host. I have lots of room in my dining and living rooms like you. I know my girls are hooked now. LOL

My compliments to both you ladies! I work with middle schoolers, so I know first hand some of the challenges of this age group. I like the idea of a troop badge - think of all the possibilities! Please keep us posted.

Deb,
Sounds like a great time!! I am so glad that it went well!!

WDWMom, I found a scrapbooking patch in the 'fun' patches. We've done two crops with our girls and they've asked for a third one. They had a ball!

I'll have to checkand see if there is one from our area. Did you see it in a catolog or at council???? I still think my girls are going to want to do a complete badge. I was surprised at how fast they came up with so many requirements. They are cadettes and the IPP's are harder to do, but they managed to varbally come up with some great requirements.

I found it in the Girl Scout Patches catelog they send out once a year. I did look on the national website, but it's not listed there.
