Ok... I've had a really bad day and need to focus on something positive. We have gone back and forth between Gianna and Isabella for our daughter's name. We decided on Gianna several months back because it is the lesser popular of the 2. For the past few days I have been thinking about Isabella more and more. I think we will probably wait until we see her to see which fits her better but just curious as to which you prefer :goodvibes

I love both, both Gianna gets the slight edge. FWIW, my 2 girls have about 5 Isaballa friends between them.

I think Gianna is a beautiful name and there's not too many of them. I've had only 3 or 4 in the last 6 years in my class. I've had about 10 Isabella's.

both names are very trendy right now. My daughter had a couple isabellas in her class..one was called izzy and the other bella to tell them apart. It would kill me to have my daughter named a nice name like isabella and called izzy LOL. Gianna I don't care for at all, that is way to trendy now. I like names that are a little more unique, not like moon unit or anything, but names where they are not going to have 4 kids in their class with the same names.

Sorry... it's pronounced GEEAHNA... I think that's about right

Really??? Gianna is trendy??? I thought it was around #150 on the baby list. Hmmm :scratchin

One of my cousin's is named Isabella, so I vote for that, but I think they're both really nice names. :thumbsup2

Okay, I've read this twice and still can't get if the G is hard or soft. How about this?

Is the G like Gary?

Is the G like Gene?

The thing is will it be shortened to Gia like that food tv chic? I hear Gia and my head starts to sing that stupid Chia Pet song..... Oh no, there it goes again.

What is the nationality? Perhaps something more native?

Isabella is what we have chosen to name our first baby if it's a girl. I LOVE that name, and I like the nickname "Bella."

We've got the name, we just need the baby! :)

Both names are very pretty but I would go with Gianna. There are so many Isabellas now.

I LOVE Gianna. I work at a school and we have zero Giannas. My dd has a friend named that, but she's the only one I've ever heard of.

I vote Gianna too - just b/c I don't know of any around here, but Isabella/Isabelle has become very popular. I like the more unusual names, and I think it's pretty. My older DD's 1st name is Jeana - after my mom (Jeanie).
