I read on another post that these were helpful with motion sickness. I'm usually ok with rides but can't do the 360 movies and had a slight quessieness with soaring. The pirate ship rides( sort of like a pendulem Hershey park has one) really make me sick. Anyway, my real problem is I'm going on a 9 day trip to Maine with my son's boy scout troop and I.'m not sure of the seating arrangements yet. If by some chance I have to sit in the backseat I know I will get motion sick. I will try to avoid this but Like I said don't know arrangements yet. How are these pills at helping, when do you start taking them and how are they taken? Any side effects? Also how about allergic reactions? I have several food allergies and enviromental allergies. I carry a epi pen with me all the time.

THANKS

Allergies are something to be concerned with. When I was a TA we were not allowed to suggest ginger to clients because the company didn't want to be sued if someone had an allergic reaction. Wouldn't it be the same as the spice though? Can you eat that? I don't know otherwise unless you broke a tablet and tried a little to see if you had any reaction?

Sorry not much help with ginger but I wanted to mention Sea Bands. Ever heard of them? You can buy them in drugstores, Walmart in the pharmacy section etc. It puts pressure on a point on your wrists. I used them for morning sickness and I swear they helped for me.

My DH has problems with motion sickness and his doctor prescribes a patch for him to use when flying. Maybe you can check into something like that.

Good luck.

DH and I just got back from a cruise (our first) and I was very worried about getting seasick. As soon as the boat pulled out, I started feeling icky and took some Dramamine. It didn't help at all, so I got some ginger candy. It made me feel a little better but not much.

As soon as we pulled into the first port, I bought a pair of Sea Bands. They look like sweatbands (I got the child size and they were a lovely shade of neon yellow and lime green) but have a ball that you put on the inside of your wrist. They worked like a charm! They cost about $12, but were worth every penny.

Ginger can only help with the nausea caused by motion but will do nothing to help actual motion sickness caused by movement. I am a huge fan of meclizine (Over the counter too)!
