Anyone ever tried these Gin-Gin candies? If so, how many times per day do you eat them?

DD gets carsick so I just want to be extra prepared. (I've already purchased her a SeaBand and we always have Bodine on hand.)GinGins.jpg

They're kinda spicy. How old is she? She may not like them. I'd have her try them before you go.

Thanks for the info. She is 10. She loves WarHeads and sour candy. Are these more like a Hot Tamale or Fire Ball perhaps?

Kind of. If that's not her thing, she may not be a fan. You can always get ginger ale at the restaurants or bring a bottle or two of your own. It's milder than these candies.

I've never tried these Gin-Gin candies (I don't get seasick) but my friends have tried Prince of Peace Ginger Candies and they seem to work for them. I believe as long as it's contains ginger you should be okay but there's no guarantee it's going to work for you. Good luck.

I love the gin-gins, but they are really spicy hot in a gingery way. They do sell Apple-ginger chews that are a bit more mild and sweeter due to the apple and she would like those better. Also, I think they make a hard candy version -the ones you posted are soft like a taffy and very sticky if hot.
At Walmart (and other places, I'm sure), you can buy ginger capsules. I think they were by Dramamine -as they had a familiar name on the package. But they only contained ginger.
If you are looking for non medicine type options, I have seen a few people mention having a small maybe hand held fan as the breeze and coolness helps some people.

I took some ginger candies on my last cruise and I thought they helped. I preferred the real candied ginger chunks I bought from my local Trader Joes.

Candied ginger is yummy! You can usually also buy it in the spice aisle of a regular grocery, as well. Again, it can be spicy, but the candied outside help moderate any heat.

EXCELLENT! I didn't even think about Trader Joes! :thanks:

I get motion sick easily and have tried ginger before. (Not these specifically.) I hated the taste and the ginger actually made me more nauseous. Make sure you try them out at least for taste before you are on board!

I'm a huge fan of Bonine. My girls take it and it works really well for them - without making them sleepy. Me: I have to go the patch route when I cruise. :/

I get car sick if I ride in the back. I grabbed two green apples at Cabanas while eating lunch on the first day and brought them back to our room. As soon as the ship started moving, I felt woozy. I ate one of the apples and was fine. Every cruise ship has green apples on board to help with seasickness.

My husband gets motion sickness and he says chewing ginger gum helps. I usually buy it at Walgreen's.
