Day 10
Up at 07.45 and usual breakfast of a slice of toast each and some melon and grapes. We walked to Epcot and rode Soarin’, Test Track, Living with the Land all by 10.15. We spent ages in Innoventions and then walked to Mexico, mainly to get a Churro! While in the queue, I saw someone get some sort of Burrito and drop it on the floor as he walked away from the counter – he then picked it up and bite into it – gross!

We left at 12.15 to go back to the room to change for the cinema. The TV had been trailing a new film with Jodie Foster, called Flightplan. We quite liked the look of it so decided to see it on the first day it was on release. It was quite good but the cinema was SO cold. I stupidly was wearing a little sundress with a thin cardigan and I quite literally shivered throughout.

• Note - next time wear something warm and/or take a cosy blanket!

We then went to the Open House at Saratoga Springs. The rooms were lovely, particularly the Grand Villa but Saratoga Springs itself left us cold. We called into Old Key West to see if they had a room we could view. A very nice lady drove us to see a Grand Villa there too – oh my – it was BEAUTIFUL and we LOVED the resort – but then we love the Caribbean so maybe that helped. All the rooms were much bigger and more gracious. We definitely want to stay there but I think a car would be an essential there. When the lady dropped us back at the main building we had the biggest rain shower I have EVER seen in Florida so we were trapped for half an hour before we could venture back to the car!

We went into Epcot in the evening and had dinner at Tangerine Café which I think has really nice food for counter service. We walked all around the lake and just savoured the night-time atmosphere before watching Illuminations from the bridge at International Gateway.

Day11
Up at 07.45 to a beautiful day. We sat beside the pool all morning and got a Sub from the Marketplace at lunchtime – while going to get it we met Art, the Greeter. What a lovely man he is and we spoke to him for quite some time.

We then went to play Fantasia Mini Golf

Tony won – what a surprise – but I scored Par which I thought was most impressive.
• The last time I picked up a club was years ago when we played Pitch’n’Putt and I took over 300 to get around!!!
It was incredibly hot again so after the golf we returned to the pool, cold drink beside us and stayed there until 5pm when we went to get ready for California Grill.

We arrived about an hour ahead of time and went up to the 15th floor for a drink (Margarita) Wow, the views were wonderful and I took quite a few photos. Our reservation was for 19.50 and at exactly that time our beeper went off. We were shown to a table with a great view of MK. I must admit we were slightly disappointed with the 4 cheese Flatbread which was basically a Pizza. We shared a Tomato starter and Tony liked his entrée of Tailfish. First of all they brought me the Pork Tenderloin when I had ordered the Mushroom Stack. When it eventually came 30 mins late it was mediocre at best. The bill when it came was wrong as well and we had to argue about our order. Worst of all, our server was more concerned with attending to her friends on the next table and we were left waiting for long periods and were never once offered a second drink.

The whole experience was something of an anticlimax, though watching Wishes from the deck was marvellous. I’m glad that we considered the prices reasonable as I’d been led to believe it was very pricey – I’d really have been annoyed then. I’m not at all sure we’d go there again, in our opinion Jiko’s was far superior.

Thanks again for the report Gill, another great few days. So was the Jodie Foster film any good ?? It was a shame about how the server at the California Grill, you would always assume that the service would be 'The Best' here - oh well never mind at least 'Wishes' was good :)

Interesting report. I fancy that film too.

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

Uh-oh. Someone at California Grill failed to make future customers out of you and Tony. Since the order that got mixed up was taken by the same wait person who treated you with inattention throughout your dinner, I think you might be able to lay blame for most of the CG problems on one very bad waitress. Can't think she'll last long at CG, where people expect better treatment. I hope you give it another try next trip. I've only had excellent experiences there through the years and would put it in the same league as Jiko (which is high praise indeed).
