I am looking for opinions here because i am not sure what would be appropriate for this.
I have an absolutely amazing doctor who is my allergist/immunologist and my infectious disease doctor. The only thing is, she is a pediatric doctor so I am starting to age out of her clinic (the clinic is only licensed for up to 23...I am 21 1/2). She is trying to get me switched to a new doctor while eveyrthing seems to be fairly under control so that it is an easier switch. I have only been her patient for about 14 months but she is one of the sweetest, most caring person i have met. She goes above and beyond for me.
Last november at my first appt, she tested me to see if i would react to the flu shot because I am allergic to eggs. I was fine so she gave me the vaccine. Instead of just coming in to check on me every once in a while or havign teh urse check on me or stay with me, she sat in the exam room with me for the full 2 hours that we had to wait to make sure I didnt react adn we just talked the entire time.
A month later, I was hospitalized for asthma and I left a message for her saying that I needed to reschedule my allergy testing ebcause I would be on steroids. Instead of just calling back, she came to my hospital room to talk to me and reschedule the appointment herself instead of having to go through her assistants. She spent an hour with me once again, just talking.
She only does clinic on tuesdays but she comes to the clinic on fridays for me because that is the only day that I can get to the hospital.
She just has done so much for me this past year. When she mentioned having to begin the process to transfer me to another doctor I was holding back tears. That is seriously how amazing she is.
I am seeing her probably for the last time at the end of march. I really wanted to give her something to say thank you for eveyrthing she has done for me. I am definitely going to write her a thank you note but I wasnt sure if there was anything else that I could give her that would be appropriate.
Has anybody else ever given their doctor something to thank them for going above and beyond and for being absolutely wonderful to them?
