Gifts for teen girls

My 13 year old has gotten into music and pop culture. She is getting a subscription to J-14. Looks like the Teen magazines from when I was a kids. She is very much into art. She loves painting with acrylic paints. She has also started to knit.

It's always safe to buy my niece a "Pink" brand sweatshirt, or anything Nike or Adidas from Macys or Kohls. Hoodies and sweatshirts are fairly un-offensively universal if I stick with black or white. American Eagle has a new kind of leggings with pockets that seem to be well liked. If they like team stuff or college stuff then Kohls is my go to.
I agree that if you want to buy clothes, these are the type of things that are likely to work for pretty much anyone.
Teens here are really into hoodie sweatshirts. It feels like that's all they wear.
I agree that it's hard to go wrong with a hoodie for a teen.

I think it really depends on the age and where they live. Some of the things listed on this thread teens in my area wouldn’t wear or enjoy. Lots of these trends are regional. I would say not to get wallets because I don’t think teens will get much use out of them. I think a Nike hoodie for the most part would be a safe bet. Safer than Pink brand. Whatever is popular on Tik Tok is what the kids want! My daughter has lots of room stuff from Amazon on her list, body scrubs and lip masks. All trends on social media. Starbucks gift cards and Starbucks cups seem to be universally liked. Teens are tough. I’m a list shopper. Give me the store, color, size and link to it online if possible! They know exactly what they want and I don’t want to stress about it or have to make those after holiday returns. I hope you find the perfect gift. Happy shopping!

We got DS’s girlfriend (college age), a Nike hoodie and Starbucks gift card. Agree with others, those seem like universal choices.

I just remembered one of my girls ultra-favorite ever gifts: Private driving lessons.

Okay, not something you'd get for your niece, but my daughters were thrilled. In our area public school driver's ed is "backed up" so students can't get a seat until they're almost 16, so they're delayed getting their permit, and then they're delayed getting their license. It's also something like an hour 3 afternoons a week Xs 6 weeks for book work, then wait again for your turn behind the wheel.
On the other hand, private lessons were 3 all-day Saturdays. Total.

It cost about $300 -- this was almost a decade ago. When my oldest opened her homemade gift certificate, she started screaming, "This is a choice? For real? This is a thing? And I'm already signed up?" It was less of a surprise for the youngest, of course, but I'd go this route in a heartbeat if I had it to do again.
