A family member in his mid 30's is in the hospital right now, and is trying to pass the time while waiting for tests. He's in discomfort, but otherwise he is fine. Someone already brought him a bunch of magazines. Any suggestions on what we could bring him?

I always take a candy bar-IF they are allowed to eat one. The food in the hospital is bad. Another suggestion is a burger from Wendy's...again, if it's allowed. I've seen some eyes light up over a single with cheese.

does he have his computer with him, if so maybe a DVD to pass the time

This may sound silly but some hard candies that he can share with staff put smiles on everyone's faces.

Another thing that men like, rather than hospital gowns and pants that barely close :scared: are some comfy lounge pants and tees (WalMart has them fairly cheap).

A small fruit basket might be nice, too.

If he is bored, bring him things to do, game books (crosswords, Sudoku, etc.), hand held games, etc.

My husband was just released from the hospital last week after spending almost the entire month. (Major surgery for an anuerysm and every complication/setback known to man!:guilty:) He is 40.

A lot of people that visited were stuck on what to bring him. Unfortunately, he was NPO (nothing by mouth but ice chips) for all but the last 3 days so, treats or food were no good.

Some things that were great for him were crossword and word search books, car magazines, I would stop at Redbox and get him a new video to watch every other day with the portable DVD player, Scrabble (we played it during the day when I was there visiting) and Uno.

As we all know, the hospital is a very boring place to be. Rest is what they are supposed to be getting but, there is only so much they can get without being bored to tears.

Best of luck for a smooth recovery for your family member!:goodvibes
