Are cast members allowed receiving gifts? (nothing big)

We were going to take some "holiday" smarties to give to the cast members working at the kidcot stations in world showcase. You can only get them in Canada and my dd thought we should take some to the cast members at the Canada pavillion because they won't be home at Christmas. :goodvibes

I've bought little "mini" packs of holiday smarties(they're like M&Ms) as well as kit kats, aero and coffee crisps. If they aren't allowed accepting them, I won't bother bringing them.

Does anyone know?? :confused3

I don't know if they can accept gifts but what a wonderful idea. I'm sure they'd be thrilled to get a little piece of home for the holiday season.

Have a GREAT time!

What a sweet idea! (No pun intended.) I'm pretty sure cast members can accept something like that. After all, I've heard of guests bringing along hand-written Thank You cards to pass out to CMs who make their trip truly magical. :wizard:

I saw a site that has some you can print off onto business cards. They have the travel site's logo on them and are ok. Here's a site I found with lots of card designs on it http://tagrel.com/APP/CMCards.shtml

Maybe you could attach some of the goodies to cards, text could be Merry Christmas from home or something like that. I'm sure those would be acceptable.

I had saved some small candy packets of Skiddles from Easter to pass out to the CMs on our trip in March. Never thought that there would a problem with them being able to accept them. I remember our past trip when Stitch tried to rummage through my bag and idicated he was looking for something to eat. I figured this time I would have a treat for him and others. :teeth:

MinnieMommy, I just spoke with my DD who is a CM at AK. I asked her about this. She said you need to offer the candy at least 3 times and then they can accept it. I'm sure they will be much appreciated!! DD says they aren't allowed to accept gifts, but if it's insisted upon they can.

Hope this helps. Have a wonderful trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The three times rule is usually just if you are offering money as CM's that are not in tipped positions can not accept money from a guest.

For what you are planning, I would go along with the suggestion of putting a little card with (or on) them that says Happy Holidays from Canada or something of that nature. We have a guest that comes to MK every December and hands out "Snowman Poop"!! I know I know, but it is funny and the Cast gets a laugh...it's just marshmellows in a bag with a little note about the Snowman.

We handed out holiday candy bags as thank yous to Cms that were really helpful (last Dec. )and every Cm accepted our gift without hesitation. We are doing a repeat this year. popcorn::

Oh good, I'm glad they can accept them!

I work front desk in a hotel at home, so I've been planning to take some kind of treat for the front desk CMs at WDW- I know how hard it is, and they're not a position who ever gets tipped, so I'd love to show some appreciation!

Thanks everyone!

My kids are really excited about this and I would feel horrible if there "sweet" gesture (thanks truebelievers) was declined.

We have already made little cards to give with the candy. They are small (slightly smaller than a business card) with a pic of Pluto with reindeer antlers on (kids picked) and it says HAPPY HOLIDAYS from the ____ family (Nova Scotia, Canada). Then under I put a small pic of a Nova Scotia flag and a small pic of a Canadian flag.

Coming from New Orleans we take themed mardi gras beads with us each trip. Easter beads in the Spring, Halloween and wine cork beads at F&WF and Holiday and New Year beads for now. All the CMs love them so far and a couple of times we've had to offer more than once for them to accept them (but they always have). It amazes me they always seem genuinely suprised that we would want to bring them "stuff"-But with everything they do to make our trip magical....they deserve it! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info, DD wasn't familiar with this. I did mention to her this morning about the cards and she loves that idea. She said she is told she gets compliments from guests, but she never hears them. She said cards would be awesome to receive. So, I'm getting mine ready to print and will have them with me each day. pixiedust:
