I'm trying to help out a co-worker by picking up some gifts for her daughter but my kids are teens and I have NO idea what 8 year olds like. Any budget-friendly suggestions?

We have a 9 year old cousin we are buying for and the mom told me that she was having a fit for Troll toys. If you look up troll toys in the girls department you will find several cute items. It seems to be popular right now.

DD is 8. Big with her age right now is Shopkins and American Girl Dolls (cheap Target brand). DD loves crafts and any kind of art supplies. Her entire class is fighting for My Wierd School book series from the library.

My 8 y/o granddaughter says she wants crafts and clothes. Cool clothes. Like the ones her big sister who is 11 and in Jr High wears

ETA She just told Santa she wants a lava lamp

Our generation dolls (like American girl but cheaper) have been popular this year at the target where I work. For my cousins around that age I got a necklace with her favorite sports team logo for one (about $10 new in package on eBay) and the other I got a drawstring sketchers backpack-perfect for sleepovers! When I was that age, I remember being really into initial stuff, like I pillow shaped like my first initial and stuff like that. Good luck!

My niece is this age. We got her barbies & an inexpensive Barbie doll house online. Otherwise she loves art supplies, craft kits, gel pens, fuzzy posters, easy bake oven refills & fun science kits. She loves stuff with her monogram too. Otherwise, Popular for this age are Shopkins, trolls, etc, though these weren't on her list.

It's tough to suggest without knowing what her interests are...at 8, my kids wanted 3ds games, collectible card sets, graphic novels and kid book series, and stuffies of their favorite characters and furbies...but I had 2 gamer girls...never had a "doll" they wanted...

I bought a niece that we don't see much (so don't know her likes/dislikes) a mermaid blanket.

My daughter is 8. She loves anything with emojis on it. She also wants Num Nom toys. She loves accessories, scarves, purses, headbands etc. She is also asking for Pom Pom Wow which is a craft thing and tsum tsums.

Perle beads are a good inexpensive option. Even my twin 11 yo boys like doing them. Basically a little peg board and you have a variety of colored beads that you place and make different designs. I think you can get a huge bucket of 20,000 beads and some of the peg boards for less than $15.

My 8-year-old DD is wild about Beanie Boos and Tsum Tsums. She also likes Pokemon. Art kits or science kits are a good call. Shopkins are also very popular.

My daughter got a creativity for kids decorate and paint dogs craft kit for her birthday and it was a huge hit. I think they are less than $15 at target. Justice had great accessories

My daughter is 7, will be 8 in March. She is a gamer girl, just like her daddy. She loves TY Beanie Boos, Lego, Shopkins, Mindcraft, Bad Kitty books (French or English), Craft kits, and gift cards for activities.

Tsum tsum, Shopkins, Crafts, rainbow loom, American girl (Our Generation at Target is more budget friendly), glitter/gel pens, really good colored pencils and 'adult' coloring books. Lip glosses and a cute purse, clothing (my 10yo loves Justice and Children's place), infinity scarves, cute socks. These are all things my daughter has liked for a few years and probably will for a few more.

Shopkins are the biggest thing in our house.

She also likes the American Girl type dolls (as PP mentioned, you can get the Target brand ones for reasonable money) along with the accessories.

Lip gloss & finger nail polish.

Nice-ish costume jewelry.

Books: Never girl series, Whatever After series, Rainbow Magic Fairies series. Any or all of those are hits.
