Hello,

My mother and a friend are heading to DLR for their birthdays (both in March). They are both 50 something year old gals and they did this last year and had a blast. Instead of giving her a physical gift, I was thinking I could add an experience to their trip. They will probably be staying one night and in the parks for 2 days.

My mother is a DLR veteran loves the rides but her friend is a bit more apprehensive and will not ride some of the more intense rides at California and skips Space Mt. at DLR (I know I know)

I was thinking about a Character meal:confused3. However, I totally don't know if they would be down with it or if it was something they secretly would love but would never buy for themselves. I just don't want to bog down their trip schedule too much, but when they went last year they saw the Aladdin show so it makes me think they were looking for other things to do besides rides. As far as I can recall we have never really sought out or done much with characters.

I was going to pay for their hotel but it seems one of them has some kind of points they use to stay for free last time *shrug*

I just were there two weeks ago, had a blast.

What do you think?

Cliff Notes: 2 5X year old adults heading to DLR for 2 day trip, looking to add to their experience, will not be on trip with them.

I might give them a nice disney giftcard each, to help pay for something they want to do.

Could give them a list of the tours (that the giftcard would cover), with the phone number to book them, if that's what they want. Otherwise, just let them choose what to spend the GCs on?

It is difficult to do much from the sidelines. DLR is a pretty familiar place since we are only a short drive away. Maybe one of those hotel room decorating surprises when they get there. I've got some time to come up with something creative.

I agree with any of these ideas. My mom and daughter loved the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour.

Gift card idea seconded! You could put it in a greeting card with a list of the tours & the Character meals & the "nicer" places for lunch/dinner (I'm thinking Blue Bayou, Napa Rose, the Steakhouse at DL Hotel...), and then let them decide.

Find out what hotel they are staulying in and call vacation planning and have a cake delivered to their room while they are in the park. You could also have some gift baskets delivered (but those are $$$). If I remember a 10" round cake goes for around $60. I wouldn't do the room decorating because it will be done before they check in and if it has been done then there is to way they could talk themselves into a room upgrade (which wouldn't be hard since they are only staying 1 night)! ;)

As someone who sounds very much like your mom, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a Disney gift card!!!! I think that's by far the best idea. Then they can do a tour, lunch, dinner, buy something...there is lots of flexibility with it.

This is just what I would do.
