My son's (He is 18) friend's family is taking him to the Bahamas for a week this month. They only ask that I pay for airfare. I asked my son about food etc. but he explained that the family often goes and enjoys gambling so they are comp'd for room and food. They are much better off than I am financially. I would like to show my sincere appreciation for giving my son a vacation I could not. Any ideas of what to get them for a thank you?

A gift card to a local restaurant they like with a nice thank you note would be lovely.

I agree with the PP saying restaurant gift card.. maybe a gift card to the movies too so they can do dinner and a movie?

You know we often take one of my DDs friends with us when we go on our summer vacations. We only ask that they bring money for souveniers. It would mean a world to my DH and I if when we returned home we received a simple thank you card from them.....one day it will happen :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Also as previous posters state a gift card to a resteraunt is a great idea!

We used to take my son's friend on vacations with us. His family would thank us, and send their son with money for food and souvenirs. We really enjoyed their son's company, and the fact that the parents thought enough to send their son with his own funds, since we were paying for travel and lodging. :lmao: I'd send your son with the same, and a card of thanks!

Not sure if your son planned on taking a camera but he could take pictures through out the vacation then either make a photo book for the family or get a few enlarged pictures of that family. If he includes a note saying what a great time he had and how he & you appreciated it that would be perfect!

My parents are quite wealthy ( I am not by the way:scared:).
They bring my younger siblings friends on vacation quite often. I swear that a sincere thank you is more than enough. A card would be nice.
They would not offer if they couldn't afford it and it is a benefit to them to not have a moody teen complaining that they are bored every 5 seconds. :rolleyes1

Honestly, I think a nice thank you and his own spending money is all that is necessary.

I would love to receive a framed photo

Thanks for the great ideas! I love the one about taking pictures. A sincere letter is also in order. I will also ask my son where they like to eat/order from. Appreciate your help!:thumbsup2
