Hi there-

I am pretty new to these boards but hoping some of you can help me. My husband and I just decided to do an Adopt-A-Family for Christmas, and the family we were matched with has a 14 year old daughter. We have 2 boys, ages 6 and 4, so I really have no clue on what teenage girls are into these days! Her list had some clothing items on it, which I'll go get a few, but also listed DVD's (chick flicks). Any ideas on good movies for a 14 year old? Or any other ideas for fun little gifts I can get for her? I don't want to get her just clothes!

Thanks so much for any ideas!

It can be tricky if she has a certain style or colours she really likes but my daughter loves anything from Claire's (accessory store at the mall.) a fashionalbe scarf, nailpolish, leg warmers, bracelets, fun slippers, funky change-purses, etc....Also, Many girls that age are into anything to do with the "Twilight" saga right now - even a bookmark would be favourable. A diposable camera is good and practical because even if a young person has a digital of their own, they do not always want to take them places they may get lost or stolen. Scrapbooking supplies seem to be a hit with this age group as well. It is kind of you and your husband to adopt a family - Merry Christmas!

I have an almost 14 yo daughter. At this age they are getting into their own unique style. My daughter mostly asked for clothing items, ITunes, mall gift card, Claire's card, etc.

They really like to be able to shop and buy what they want at the mall. My daughter first asked for Rock Band 2 ($139.99) I didn't want to spend that much so I asked her would she rather have that or $60 on her Visa Buxx Card....she chose the $$ on her Visa Buxx Card. Aeropostale has some nice, cheap items as well. Cute socks, gloves, scaves, body mist or spray, braclets.

How about pajamas, a robe and slippers (I don't know if they gave you her size) or if you know her name, a few years ago, I got a throw blanket from Lands End monogrammed for my kids and my neices. It's nice to have something cozy to wrap up in in the winter. Having your name on something makes you feel special.

I think whatever you do will be appreciated!

Thank you all for the replies. Aeropostale was one of the stores mentioned on her list, so that's where I'll be headed first! I was going to get a couple clothing items, but also wanted some fun, cute, girly stuff. The scrapbook kit is a good idea, I'm a scrapbooker myself so should have no problem picking out that!

We were given names and sizes for clothing, and they supplied a basic list (jeans, sweaters, DVDs).

Dd13.5 is getting a CHI, webcam for her laptop, victoria secret jammies and slippers, Twilight books (even though she's read them all), a new cellphone, and gc's - LOVES gift cards. There is NO way dd is letting me pick out clothes or jewerly!

Will you adopt me???:thumbsup2

Some DVDs my DD15 has asked for:

Mama Mia
17 Again (she lovessss Zac Efron )
High School Musical 1-3 (because of her Zac Efron obsession)
Hairspray (more Zac)

She also loves any of the scarves and slipper socks from Aeropostale.
