I do this all the time! If I use my TiW and tip is automatically included I swipe the card. If not, band is definitely easiest!

I was thinking of doing TiW this trip, why is it better to swipe the card vs charging to band with it. Just making sure I don't mess anything up.

It's not necessarily "better" in this situation, just the only way I do let them swipe my gift card for TS with GC instead of tapping the band. Since TiW is applied before you pay and gratuity is automatically included, you pay one lump sum on the gift card when it is swiped, unless you add additional gratuity. No worrying about having another charge later on the GC. When I have left additional gratuity, I just used cash.

For some reason my band ALWAYS has issues so I have the card if I need it, but i just have someone else in my party tap. Concierge usually fixes my band by the end of the second day.

Just be sure to stop at the front desk if your resort every couple of days to pay down your balance with your gift card. Disney has been known to charge a guest's room bill to the credit card on file well before the resort charging limit is reached.
