Gift cards on resort account

I normally buy disney gift cards when I have extra money and then we use this to buy food and souvenirs. The problem is tracking what is on each one. I was wondering at check in could you have them put on your resort bill as a credit and then just use your key card. Has anyone tried this or have another idea for tracking gift cards balances. Most of them are just $50 dollar gift cards and that won't even buy a counter service meal for my family. My other thought is to put the money away until I can buy $500 ones. I just hate having that big of ones in case one gets lost

Here's what we do. We leave our cc for charges but every few days we take our gift cards and pay off whatever we have charges. This way the cc isn't charged and we don't have to keep track of the amounts on the gc. Works for us!

When we make the res, we usually start with the min. base park tickets and add days/upgrade at check in and use the GCs for that.

I have used gift cards at check in many times instead of a credit card, they will add them at check in, and if there is a balance left over at the end of your stay they will return the cash to you.

If you have an Iphone there is an app "Disney Gift Cards" that will keep track of all your gift cards and balances.

I have this app on my Iphone and it's great. You can see all of your transactions immediately.

We do the same thing. As long as you make sure you balance does not exceed your resort limit(500 for value, 1000 for mod and 1500 for deluxe) your credit card will not be charged. We usually pay balance down every few days and definitely the night before checkout.

That's what we do, too! Check in with CC#, pay every couple days with gift cards. I didn't know you could give them all of them at check in and get cash back at the end, though!! That's an idea!!

That app for the iPhone sounds like it's just creating more work , which really, I'm not trying to do that! I am trying to streamline the whole process not make it more cumbersome by tracking.
