Gift card to purchase food?

We have decided to drop the DDP for our trip in March and get a room only discount. I will be using the refund(difference in cost) to purchase Disney gift cards or prepaid Visa cards. Can we use Disney gift cards to pay for food purchases? Thanks

Yes, you can. When I was there this past Sept/Oct for the Food & Wine Festival I used a $500.00 Disney gift card that I had bought online from the Disney website. I used it at the F&W Festival booths, in the restaurants to pay for my tips, and once in the food court for a cookie, I didn't want to waste a snack credit on. I also used it in the gift shops. It was never turned down anywhere I tried to use it.

Follow up question. Are there places where we CANNOT use Disney gift cards and will need a pre-paid Visa card or cash? TIA
