I just finished listening to last weeks podcast (yes I am lagging behind a little) and heard the gift card offer was extended. I am excited to hear this because we are going to be there for our honeymoon at the beginning of Aug...I may be a Disney vet, but I still don't know which restaurants will NOT take the gift card. I know the ones at Swan and Dolphin won't and I know the tea stand at AK doesn't (I tried two years ago and they said they aren't Disney owned)...but what about the restaurants in Epcot? Do I remember hearing that some of them aren't Disney owned...someone???:confused3 We are staying at Beach Club so this gift card would probably cover most of our food for the whole trip ($750)...

I'd like to know this also. We booked a surprise trip at POR for June with the "Winter - Summer" package with the $500 gift card. I heard different things about where you can use the gift card. It would be wonderful if it can be used for restaurants. One of the CM's from reservations told me to start booking our reservations for meals and I forgot to ask her last night if and where we can use the gift card. Knowing which restaurant would be great. Thanks!

A lot of the restaurants in World Showcase are "operating participants", aka not owned by Disney. But I think those theme park location restaurants will honor the Disney gift card. I'm not 100% certain that all of them do, but I think the majority will.

My logic is that you can buy a gift card in the theme park, therefore you should be able to use it within that theme park. Restaurants at the Swan / Dolphin might not accept it, and I'm not certain which restaurants at Downtown Disney accept it.

But I would say for the most part, you shouldn't have problems using it.

Worst case scenario: All Epcot restaurants accept the Key to the World card (if you put a credit card down for charging privileges). You can charge the meals to that and later go to the Front Desk of your resort and ask to apply the gift card towards those charges.

AWESOME IDEA!!! Didn't even THINK of that...:thumbsup2

It is a great idea! I never would have thought of that. Thanks BriarRosie

You can always try to use your gift card first. And then use the KTTW card resort ID with charging privileges in case they don't take it. I'm sure there are exceptions, like the Swan and Dolphin, where you're going to need to pay out of pocket to dine there. At least this year they take the Tables in Wonderland card. At least that's something for those who can take advantage of that.

We were also able to do this with disney dollars too- we charged things to our room and paid the resort bill with disney dollars. Much easier than carrying those around.
