Gift Card Balance

I was thinking instead of carrying cash to buy food, that I would buy a gift card.

I am used to WDW and the dining plan. Since I am going solo, the DL dining plan won't work as I can't see myself spending $32 on one meal.

What I was wondering was when I buy something, will the balance left on the gift card show on the receipt?

Thanks:santa:

Plus, the CM will usually tell you where on the receipt the balance is located.

We're here right now using a gift card instead of cash and we love the concept!! The balance shows on the receipt and sometimes they will tell you the balance in addition to the receipt. The bonus is that if you lose your ard, they will replace it!!

One may also check on line, and over the phone for their balance.
If you lose your gift card, or in the event someone steals it, yes, it can be replaced. However, one must have the original receipt, hence, make sure that you do not keep it with your gift cards, otherwise, it will be a sad gift card day.

This is not completely accurate, they can and will accept a copy of the receipt, if you also have a copy of the gift card, with the PIN scratched off, in the even that the receipt is lost. Please note that this is an exception to the rule and your mileage may vary.

In addition, if you have the gift card number and the PIN, you can call and have the balance transfered to another card. I have done this on several occasions, once when I threw out the old gift cards and had to cancel a trip, only to realize that the balance went back on the old gift cards. This is easier if you bought both cards at the same time.

In either of these situations, they may ask you where you bought the card, the original value of the card, the date you bought the card and up to the last 3 places you used the card.
