Ghosts, and Villians, and Disney, Oh My! An October PTR- Link to TR

Just checked the NO events calendar; I don't see anything at the moment that should keep him out of the city on the Saturday. Yes, the Saints are playing on Sunday (not sure about Tulane--but they don't bring out lots of crowds anyway...) he is leary of rowdy groups, so that weekend appears to be a great weekend. But, yes we are very close to we can meet up anywhere from here to Baton Rouge...
later

Will let you know as it gets closer if we are definitely going then. I am also looking at sunday Oct. 10. Trying to plan a fun day trip. Plus, one of my best friends from back home (Monroe) just had a little girl and I am itching to go see her and the baby. But like you said we could meet up alot of different places. I am sure Ashton and the kids would have fun together!:goodvibes

Have a little update about the upcoming trip. As of today it is all paid off! Woohoo!!! So, wanted to share an updated itinerary. (not sure if much has changed, but as of now this is set in stone)

Saturday Oct. 16- travel day. Plan is to drive the 10 plus hours to Lake Buena Vista and stay somewhere for the night.

Sun. Oct. 17- Epcot

Mon. Oct. 18- DHS

Tues. Oct. 19- MK

Wed. Oct. 20- AK

Thurs. Oct. 21- MK and MNSSHP

Fri. Oct. 22- check out of POR and into RPR (universal) and eventually make it to IOA.

Sat. Oct. 23- US and IOA

Sun. Oct. 24- go home, all the way, 10 hours again!

I plan on going more into detail with what we will do each day the week before the trip. I have made quite a few purchases for the trip and hope to take pictures of everything soon and do an update on that. I do have one to share now. This is the outfit for Chloe off etsy that I have picked out. The lady is in the process of making it now and I really can't wait to try it on Chloe! Drumroll, please.....

il_fullxfull855013441.jpg

That is the one! I have a black sweater she can wear if it is cool out. I really loved the dresses, but think the pants are more practical.

I do have a question for anyone who wants to give their input. Since we are driving in on the 16th tentatively and won't be able to eat on property I didn't add that date to the POR reservation (POR is 17-22 with free dining). One more factor is that as of right now dh's vacation doesn't start until the 17th at 6am, meaning he is scheduled to work the 16th night. He should be able to swap shifts with someone and get off on the 16th at 6 am instead (last shift being the 15th night). I guess I am saying it isn't definite that we will leave on the 16th, may be the 17th if he can't work out a swap. Confused yet? I am debating on booking the 16th on property with the room only discount, but if Chris doesn't get off in time then would we loose that money? Even debating booking as a room only discount at POR and hoping we can stay in the same room for the rest of the stay. Anyone know what would happen if I had to cancel the 16th? Or we might just plan on trying to find a room the week before we go (when we are certain we need a room on the 16th). If we wait, does anyone have hotels they can recommend that isn't on disney property and would be around $100?

Next up- April tr day 3 MK

Your itinerary looks great! And I love the outfit you picked out, it's so cute! :)

As for your room dilemma...I'm pretty sure if you add a day at POR with just a room discount, it will be a separate reservation, just a room reservation only, it won't be added to your package, which means you should be able to cancel it whenever with no problem.

If you're just adding that day though, why not just stay at one of the values for that night and move over to POR the next day? I know it might be a pain to do that but it will save you some money! :)

I love the outfit you chose! it is sooo cute and I agree pants are a little more practical...

the plans look great so far! we had stopped in Tallahasse (because my dad wanted to stop--but we had planned to stop in Lake City which is about 2/3 hrs north of WDW, it is where you turn south off of I10.)

my next suggestion is what Nermel suggested...that would be a fun way to check out one of the values the kids would get a big kick out of the huge icons at the ASmovie, POP (our fav), and ASmusic; I think you can cancel up to 48 hrs before with no penalty give them a call tomorrow or when you get a chance and ask.

As for the days you check out of POR to go to RPR we checked out around 7 am, checked in and put our stuff in our room, did a quick restroom break and made it to IOA by 9:45...which gave us our two days. If you havev the hopper tickets I would suggest starting at IOA your first day and US in the morning the next finishing with IOA. I know Dayne and Danny had both said they wished I would have purchased the hoppers...we were finished with US quickly and they wanted to go back to IOA.

:woohoo: for paying off your trip!

The first year that I went to WDW, we stayed The Club Hotel by Doubletree which was just down the street from DTD. I looked on Hotels.com and didn't see it listed, but I remember it being a nice place. It might not even exist anymore, for all I know!

I know we stayed off-site again 2005 but for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the hotel. Sorry! I'm not much help, I know! :rotfl2:

That outfit is so cute! Your itinerary looks good to me, but I wanted to chime in with the other two who suggested getting a room at one of the values for that one night, if you feel like switching resorts. I never got around to going to Universal, so I don't have any suggestions on that :lmao:

Thanks, and thanks!

That is exactly what I was thinking about POR, either way we would have to change rooms and it would be nice to visit another resort. Plus, I am worried that if we stay at POR the 16th and check in late (8pm ish) then even if they kept us in the same room for the whole time then we would be less likely to get our requests.

I am actually leaning towards doing a value, it is only $97 and I think the kids would really like it. We would get to check out a value and see if it would work for us.

I do hope the kids can make it the 10 hours to disney. I am sure we will stop quite a few times. I do worry that they will drive me crazy enough that we will have to break the drive in two. With Chris working the night before he will be tired, so I will probably drive the whole way and try to let him rest. Thinking out loud there.:upsidedow If I book in Orlando/Lake Buena Vista then we will have to make it there. Plus, I really want to be at Epcot at opening if at all possible.

I really am leaning towards staying at a value. Need to call and make sure of the cancellation policy before I book though. We wouldn't know if Chris could do the swap until the week of, so I probably won't book unless I could get the money back (having to pre-pay and all). The only real problem I have with the values are.... I doubt the kids will want to leave them:lmao:. They would love the ASMovies the most!

Thursday night we will be up late at the MNSSHP, so Friday I plan to let them sleep in a bit (I might even be able to go to downtown disney by myself to do a little christmas shopping that morning). Planning on getting to RPR around 11ish, then heading to IOA for that whole day (might swap parks if we get alot done in a couple hours). Saturday I want to use the extra hour for resort guests to ride the HP rides, then we will hop over to US, then back to IOA after the studios are closed at 5p. I am definitely planning on using the park-to-park tickets! Oh, and I am looking at the eats in the parks and Citywalk. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks, will have to do a little research. I forgot about the hotels right by DTD. Need to call disney reservation line to see the policy and if that doesn't work out then start checking other hotels.

I am thinking value for the night is the way to go.

Thank you all for your input. Glad to have disfriends to help me out! Chris suggested just adding on at POR and I started giving him the negatives. If we can't for sure keep the same room then I would rather stay at a different resort! I just want to try out all the resorts atleast once. Calling the reservation line soon and will be back with the results! And the day 3 april tr should be up later today, so please check back!

Called Disney reservation line and booked the 16th at POP CENTURY! :woohoo: And if anyone is wondering for room only reservations you have to pay for one night plus taxes up front and if you need to cancel you must do so 6 days prior to arrival to get the refund. If we need to cancel I should know the previous week, so that works out for us. Best part is it was only $97. Now that is one less thing I have on my to do list!!!

Yay that's good news! I'd love to check out Pop Century sometime, if I ever stay in a value again, it will definitely be Pop!:)

:yay: we loved the POP...so far we have been to ASSp, POFQ, and POP and we loved the last two mentioned! the kids are going to love it!!!!

Joining in!! I can't wait to hear all about your trip!! :goodvibes

Wednesday April 21

The alarm was set for 6:30 this morning, had to get early so we could head to our breakfast reservations at Magic Kingdom. We headed down to the bus stop as soon as we were ready. Unfortunately, we saw the MK bus pull away just as we got there, but about 15 minutes later came another one. Our ressie was for 8:10, so I was hoping to get some empty park pics before we headed to get our grub on. When we got to the rope the CM’s were checking off names, but weren’t letting anyone into the park. They didn’t let us in until right at 8:00. I took pictures of Main Street:

IMG_4750.jpg

Then we headed to the castle.:lovestruc

IMG_4752.jpg

I wanted to get different photo pass pictures, but most of the photographers were just setting up, I did get one pp guy to take a some pictures.

Photo0062.jpg

Photo0073.jpg

Rain had poured down overnight, so everything was damp and the humidity was horrible. Didn't make for such great pictures if you ask me, but I did like some of the pictures after I turned them black and white. After taking more pictures around the hub

IMG_4762.jpg

we headed to our ADR’s at

IMG_4760.jpg

IMG_4764.jpg

When we got to CP Pooh and friends were doing a little morning welcome. It was cute. Now the kids were excited to meet with them. While waiting to be seated I snapped this picture (how sweet).

IMG_4768.jpg

Didn’t take long at all to be seated. Our table was close to the buffet and the characters started out on the other side, so we headed to grab up some breakfast. The buffet had a good variety. I had to try the cute Mickey waffles, Chloe mainly had fruit, and Noah was all about the donut holes, pretty sure Chris tried a little of everything. I wasn’t super impressed by the taste of the food, but the meal was more about the characters anyway. Here are some photos from the characters. Piglet was first.

IMG_4780.jpg

Then came Tigger.

IMG_4785.jpg

IMG_4787.jpg

IMG_4786.jpg

Tigger was so wonderful, I got some really cute pictures and the kids were so excited to play around with him. Sorry Pooh, Tigger is our favorite!

Then they stopped for the parade and Chloe and Noah joined in. By this time we were all done with the food and ready to see Pooh and Eeyore. Wasn’t long and the parade was over and Pooh started making his way towards us, Eeyore still was nowhere to be seen.

IMG_4798.jpg

IMG_4797.jpg

Pooh was a lovable bear, he gave hugs and that was about it. Finally, Eeyore was making his way over. It was getting close to 9am and I was getting antsy. We settled the bill and waited on the donkey. Then Eeyore passed us right up. Our waitress noticed and pointed him back in our direction. So, finally Eeyore-

IMG_4804.jpg

Again, he was lovable, but just nowhere near as fun as Tigger. Time to head out. Janea and I had been texting and we headed over to meet them.

Continued below...

Awwww! I love the pics of Tigger with your kids :) So cute! :tigger: That's sad that Eeyore wasn't as playful, but I've noticed that he usually isn't :lmao:

Where were we meeting up? (well after we grabbed fp's for Peter Pan)

IMG_4808.jpg

Dumbo of course:rolleyes:. We all jumped in line. It wasn’t too bad of a wait, especially when chatting with friends. We were all so excited for our MK day and went over the plan. Our goal was to not backtrack as much as we did at DHS. So after our ride on the beloved elephant, we were off to conquer all of fantasyland. We rode the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh,

IMG_2313.jpg

then Snow White’s Scary Adventures, then saw Mickey’s Philharmagic.

IMG_5398.jpg

After that we headed to it’s a small world and finally to use our fp’s for Peter Pan. We loved everything, well maybe the adults didn’t care too much for IASW.

It was still before 11am, so we then went to a favorite- Haunted Mansion. It was funny, one of the tombstones had the name Bender on it, so it made the Bender’s feel extra special.

Next up we wanted to check the wait times for BTMRR and Splash Mountain. On the way over I saw Woody and Jessie, so I told the others to grab fp’s for one of the rides and meet me back in line. It was quite a wait to meet the Toy Story friends and it was in the hot sun (it actually turned out to be a pretty day), but finally…

Photo0081.jpg

Photo0084.jpg

Photo0097.jpg

Photo0089.jpg

Really was worth the wait in the blazing heat because the kids were so thrilled. Then Chris and I got in for a few pictures. I probably wouldn’t have shared this picture because I look scary (I did mention the humidity right?), but what Chris is doing is just too funny not to share!

Photo0100.jpg

Yes, that is the autograph book he is holding up. And yes, he really thought he was getting it out of the picture! Every time I see this picture I can’t help but crack up. Silly boy!:lmao:

The Bender’s were hungry and so were Chloe and Noah. My kids really didn’t eat much at CP, they were too excited I guess. We decided to grab lunch at Pecos Bills. I think Chris and I split a burger and my kids had the nuggets. The food was okay, but after we decided we would be eating at Columbia Harbor House from now on.

When Janea and I got through eating we took all the tickets and got fp’s for Splash Mnt., earlier they had gotten BTMRR fp’s. By the time we got back and had a potty break it was time for BTMRR.

IMG_2308.jpg

All the kids made it on! Love BTMRR! All of the kids giggled all the way through it. After we got off we still had a little while until our fp time for Splash, so we headed to the little play area. Us adults rested and the kids blew off some steam- crazy the difference in the energy levels!:rotfl2:

Finally, time for Splash!

IMG_4855.jpg

Noah didn’t make it on. He was so upset, but rules are rules, so Chris took him back to the play area. By the time we made it back Noah was happy again. We didn’t get splashed at all, but we all enjoyed the Brer Rabbit ride. Chloe was begging to go on it again, so scared of a meltdown I left her with Chris to ride again and headed with the Bender’s to Country Bear Jamboree. We had to wait about 15 minutes for the next show. We were hoping Chris and Chloe would make it in time, and they did. I think the little boys enjoyed the show the most, not sure why? Talking bears maybe?

It was in CBJ that I discovered my camera needed recharging, well the battery any way. The last timestamp I have on the pictures was 1:55, that was on Splash Mnt. Thankfully, we had brought the video camera, but here is when the pictures stop for the day. By the time we were released from CBJ, the ropes were going up for the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade. We decided to sneak into Adventureland right by CBJ. I was hoping to catch Aladdin and Jasmine, but Jasmine was out by herself and the line was cut off.

That’s it for now. I am hoping to get up the rest of the MK day in the next couple of days.
So, next up- Adventureland, Toontown, Tomorrowland, Wishes, and Spectro. (and yes, still going to have pictures, but some might not be my own! )

Hey there...tripped over here from onescgrl's PTR when I noticed that your trip dates coincide very closely with ours. Looks like a couple of the days even match up!

Sun. Oct. 17- Epcot

Tues. Oct. 19- MK

Thurs. Oct. 21- MK and MNSSHP

We will be at Epcot on the 17th, and MK on the 19th. We are also going to MNSSHP on the 21st, though will spend most of the day at our resort. Our costumes are not set 100 %, though DD is going to be Kim Possible. (She might just be dressed as Kim Possible on Sunday as well for the WS missions, at least that's what she says she wants to do.) Maybe we'll see you around the parks!

It appears we were there at the same time as you were in April as well, though that was a mini-trip for us. Check out October PTR and April TR links in my signature if you are interested!

Great updates! I love the CP pictures - the ones with Tigger are adorable. What a great morning you guys had! How cute is the picture with Chloe and Jessie since she has her very cute Jessie shirt on!!

Love that angle of the Big Thunder picture - I've never tried getting a pic from over there!

Loving your trip report!! :thumbsup2

:lovestrucLove Tigger! Eeyore was so lovable, but I think he was ready to get back to the 100 Acre woods.

Wow, great minds think alike! I will have to pop over. You would think that we will cross paths, I'm interested to see if we have the same touring plan for the parks.

I had tears in my eyes watching the kids with Tigger, what a sap I am! I was so hoping to see Jessie since she had her shirt on, yep I am a nerd too!:rotfl:

The BTMRR pic was taken from the Liberty Belle. Must confess that the picture was taken last year as we didn't do the steamboat this trip. Thought it was a cool picture and had to share though, glad you like.

I have to get quicker with these updates or I won't finish before we leave!

Great updates! Yay for seeing Woody in Frontierland!

:woohoo: Woody and Jessie together made my day!

Ahhh, the pictures with Woody and Jessie! :lovestruc Be still my heart, those are some adorable kids!!
