Ghosts, and Villians, and Disney, Oh My! An October PTR- Link to TR

I usually buy from online. I didn't know it was even open in Lakeside until a friend told me. The Mall of Louisiana one shut down last year right after Christmas, no real notice. Here one day and gone the next, or so it seemed to me anyway.

Esplanade Mall had a huge one, but they closed that one down. From what I heard, Disney is closing down alot of their stores.

Oh yeah, it poured all weekend long!!!! We had flash floods & tornado warnings all weekend! And yes we do!!!!

Was not fun to walk in! I have more battle wounds on my feet than I did going to disney for a week. Wet feet and flip-flops do not mix. I needed me some rainboots!

We are planning a trip soon to the aquarium as a family. Will let you know when we do, might could plan something then. I have to look at the LSU football calendar to see when the home games are first.

Sounds great! We have season passes to the aquarium & the zoo, so just let me know when & I will let you know if we are available!

Our first park day was here. We got dressed, got all packed up (book bag and ice chest) and headed to the car. But first we made sure to take pictures of every KTTW card, so if we lost it we would have the number. Chloe got a little carried away and started posing with my lanyard and card.
IMG_4581.jpg

We had decided to drive today because we were going to Downtown Disney for dinner reservations and did not want to waste time traveling by bus from the park. As we stepped outside we saw the sun, but everything was still wet from the rain yesterday. The skies looked friendly, but there was rain in the forecast. So, what park were we headed to on this beautiful, sunny day?
disneyhollywoodstudio2-3-004.jpg

Disney Hollywood Studios
We made it before park opening and this was our view:
IMG_4584.jpg

As soon as the rope dropped we were headed for
IMG_4627.jpg

IMG_4667.jpg

I will add that the Benders were meeting us at the park, specifically at the FP machine for TSM. They were ahead of us for rope drop and we couldn’t find them anywhere. Chris got into the FP line and the kids started visiting with this guy.
IMG_4589.jpg

IMG_4588.jpg

He loved the kids shirts, because he and his crew were on them. Noah especially had a good time playing with the green army man. I was keeping my eye on Chris, still in the FP line, and on the lookout for the Benders. Still no sign of Janea and family. Chris was slowly getting closer to the FP machine. Just as I was about to give up here they came, and just in time to give Chris their tickets. This was their first trip in over 10 years to disney and boy did they have a lot to learn!

We had planned to get the FP’s and ride, but the line was out the door and all the way to the entrance for Studio Backlot Tour, so we decided to just come back later to use our FP’s. Oh, and what were the Benders doing before…just visiting with a couple of ducks, Daisy and Donald. Where to next?
IMG_4590.jpg

GMR was having some difficulties, so no dice there. I was scrambling, because so far my great plans were out the window! Then we see Goofy and Pluto, so we jumped in their line.
Photo0031.jpg

Photo0028.jpg

Photo0034.jpg

All the kids were happy, but it was getting close to 10am and we hadn’t really done much. GMR was still not up, so we decided to see a certain little mermaid.
IMG_4628.jpg

IMG_4606.jpg

IMG_4617.jpg

We were sitting just one row from the stage and it was a great view. This show can get a little scary, but all the kids really enjoyed it!

There wasn’t much time before our lunch ADR, so we went inside to play with some characters. Or so we thought we could. We ended up trying a few of the interactive activities. Chloe liked coloring some pictures.
IMG_4621.jpg

Noah was making music. I was now rethinking what to do after lunch because the park was way more crowded than I had thought it would be. Before long we headed to lunch.
IMG_4630.jpg

We were going back in time to the 50’s! We were seated in one of the coveted kitchen tables.
IMG_4643.jpg

Everything about this meal was wonderful. Chris had the meatloaf, I had a turkey stacked sandwich, Chloe had the grilled chicken with pasta and veggies, and Noah had the chicken nuggets. Our waitress, MJ, did try to get Chloe to eat her veggies, but was not pushy in any way. When it was time for desserts, MJ brought out a special menu.
IMG_4652.jpg

All the desserts looked good in the 3d viewfinder! Chris and I both got milkshakes and Noah got a sundae. Chloe’s meal didn’t come with dessert, so she shared with Chris and me. I would recommend this place to anyone who is considering it. Yummy food and great service!

With our tummies full it was time for ToT.
IMG_4661.jpg

Well, time to get us some FP’s anyway. So we met up with the Benders, grabbed some FP’s, then headed back to TSM. This ride is just the best! Here are Chloe and my scores.
IMG_4678.jpg

Yes, the higher one was mine, but I did think I should have done better. After all, we have this game on the Wii at home! I think Janea’s husband, David got the highest score. Chris wouldn’t even tell me his, he said he just helped Noah. Sure, honey, whatever you say.

Continued on next post...

continued from above...

Next on the agenda, not really the itinerary as that had been trashed a LONG time ago, was
IMG_4681.jpg

We were herded in like sheep into a packed stadium Jackson from Hannah Montana was there doing filming for a commercial, so the show lasted even longer than usual. At first, Noah was getting tired and cranky, but when the stunt show started he perked right up. Here are a couple of pics from the performance.
IMG_4688.jpg

IMG_4702.jpg

The stunt show was exciting, but it sure was hot on those bleachers. I would recommend not going in the middle of the day.
From here we went to see ka chow, Lightning McQueen , and his best buddy Mater.
IMG_4710.jpg

Photo0057.jpg

The cars were cool, but the kids did wonder why they didn’t talk or go anywhere! I love the picture with all 4 kids in it, aren’t they stylin’ in their shades! (and yes I know Noah looks like he needs the bathroom)

Then we headed (well, after a bathroom stop) into Muppetvision 3d, there was no line at all and the theatre was not even half full. Not our favorite attraction at all, probably least favorite, but for some reason I always take lots of pictures here. I will share one:
IMG_4715.jpg

It was getting later in the afternoon and we had to get to our dinner with some prehistoric creatures, but first up we had some ToT fp’s to use. We measured the kids and Noah was a hair too short. Chris hung back with Noah while the rest of us headed to the twilight zone. I wasn’t too worried about Chloe because she is my little adrenaline junkie, but I still held her hand the entire ride. When we got off she was a little shocked, but insisted on riding again. We still had a little time, so off went the group again while I stayed with Noah. I took this picture while waiting.
IMG_4719.jpg

After that we said goodbye to the Benders, they were staying for Fantasmic later that evening and we were off to Downtown Disney. On the way out of the park Chloe was explaining why she was scared after her first ride on ToT and thrilled after her second. She said the first ride she didn’t hear them tell her to hold on the handles on the seat and not holding on made her stomach feel funny, but the second ride she heard them say it, so it was so fun when she held on to the handles. I guess she is only part adrenaline junkie after all.

Noah fell asleep on the way, he was out before we even got out the parking lot. I had given us plenty of time to get to the DD area and we were way early, so we decided to let Noah nap for a little while. Ok, nap over, he didn’t sleep for long! Guess he knew there was more fun to come. Still had about an hour, so Chloe and I headed to World of Disney store and Chris and Noah to the Lego store. Didn’t buy anything, just looked around eyeing those future purchases.

Now it was time for our ressie at
IMG_4731.jpg

IMG_4735.jpg

By this time we all were hungry and pretty worn out from the full day. First we ordered the dual dip for an appetizer. Then Chris and I split a chicken and ribs meal and the kids split a chicken and shrimp dish. We were enjoying the meal, not your home-cooked meal, but still fairly good, this place was more about atmosphere than good eats.
IMG_4743.jpg

IMG_4741.jpg

Chloe was eating some of my ribs and all of a sudden she got this look on her face. What look you ask? The look a kid makes before they upchuck all the food that had not made it all the way down. Yes, all over her, me, the table. Um, waitress, we need our check. The poor waitress all she could say was “do you need a to go box?” Nope just check. I cleaned everything as well as I could. We paid the bill and headed out. Chloe was beyond mortified. All I could think was “oh no she is getting sick!” Back to CBR we went. Apparently, Woody and Buzz had been acting up while we were gone!
IMG_4744.jpg

Before Chloe went to bed she was hungry again. After she ate and was fine I was decided that either the food from T-Rex just got stuck or that the 2 trips on ToT made her stomach queasy. Was thinking a good night sleep and she should be back to normal in the morning, staying positive.

All in all our first day at DHS was enjoyable. The crowds were much worse than they were last February, but with fp’s it was all doable. We had another day planned later in the week at HS, so we knew we would finish up what we didn’t see then. T-Rex turned into a bit of a fiasco, so I am hoping one trip we make it back there. Chloe getting sick did not help my review of it. Oh, and what of the rain? It did sprinkle while we were at DD, but that was all the precipitation for the day.

Next up: Breakfast with a huggable bear, and how many attractions can we do in one day?

Aww, I'm sorry Chloe got sick! I hope she felt better in the morning!

I love that picture of the Kermit statue! Would you believe I don't remember seeing that there? :lmao: It's kinda funny what you miss when you work there.

Thanks, and Chloe was feeling good in the morning. I was still watching her like a hawk to make sure she wasn't going to get sick again.

I think the Kermit statue was around the side where the gift shop is. I would almost swear that some pictures I see on people's tr's weren't taken in disney, but I guess most of the time I am not paying too much attention to the scenery.

Great update!

Taking pictures of your KTTW cards is a great idea! Do you know a tip I read on here a while ago that I thought was so great? Take a picture of your name, phone #, and resort you're staying in in case your camera gets lost! I thought that was so genius...and I never bothered doing it! :rotfl: :confused3 Maybe I'll remember for my next trip!

Love your pictures! T Rex looks cute!

Poor Chloe, not feeling well! It's no fun being sick at Disney World! Glad she felt better the next day! :cool1:

Loved hearing about your first full park day! Sounds like a good one...except for the whole getting sick thing. Poor baby! We have been there...except it ran through pretty much all 12 of us on our family trip back in January of 2006. It was awful! Glad to hear she was feeling better the next day! :goodvibes

Hey Ashley! I just followed your link from Dana's (DisneyFirefly) PTR!

You have a beautiful family! Love the pic of Noah as a Pirate with the face paint! SOO cute!

We'll be in Disney for a few of the same days! We check in to CSR on 10/19! Can you believe we go to Disney NEXT MONTH! :hyper:

Going back to catch up on the details!

Hiya! Ashley
great and fun update! you have some great photo shots! I love the shot of Noah and the solider looking at his shirt.
sorry to hear Chloe had was not feeling well; that is always so hard.

Glad to hear you had a fun weekend! sorry about the flipflops and wet streets :rolleyes1
The disney store at the Gulfport outlets is sooooo much bigger than Lakeside's for a few min (15/20 --we live in Ponchatoula-so we are pretty much half way either way) more I usually choose to head that way. In fact I am hoping to talk Danny into heading that way this weekend. I have decided to get backpacks w/matching lunch boxes for Ashton's friends for Christmas this year...No toys, Chloe's mom just brought me a bag of toys that I have bought her for past bdays and Christmas to play with here; since she has sooooo many toys. And, you know we have ooooddles here. So, they are getting a busy bag and on the go snack bag :mickeyjum

I was going to do the NO aquarium tomorrow but just realized it is their bday celebration this weekend. So, I think we are going to enjoy the slight change in weather and head to the zoo instead (need to get use out of this membership :cutie: )

Well, have a great weekend! Ashley and all dissers!
:wave2: Connie

Oh man.........kids up-chucking seem to be a trend going on in some of the TR I've been reading.....until now it never crossed my mind. Cody getting a croup flare up, yes, but puking, no. Now I am worried!!!! DOH!

Thanks for the picts inside TRex. We have ADRs there for our DTD night. It will be a surprise for the boys, as is going to Build a Dino afterward (the boys each have $25GC from their b-days to BAB and I hear you can use them at BAD). They both like Dinos so this will be a fun treat. And a cheap one, we have $75 in GC to Trex so I just may partake in a drink or 2!!

What did you think of Pirates League? I was thinking about it for the boys, maybe for the night we do MNSSHP (in place of costumes), but they aren't really 'into' pirates. I am hoping to get the POTC movie for family night this weekend to see if that sparks some intrest.

Oh no! That sucks that she got sick! Back ion 2005, my brother got really sick and spent a whole night in the bathroom. Hopefully Chloe is better for the rest of the trip!

I love the shirts Chloe & Noah have on, they are too cute! (yours & DH look good too!)
You've got so many great pictures at DHS. I love the one w/toy soldier and Pluto/Goofy.
When we went to DHS, I loved the Muppet Vision because The Muppets was one of my favorite shows when I was little. The set was exciting for me because I remembered it from t.v.
But, it didn't mean anything to my kids. I wish they had reruns of the show on t.v.
We will probably not do it again this year since I was the only one that really liked it.

Poor Chloe! I know it wasn't funny at the time, but it sure is funny reading about it! I'm just glad it was a one-time deal & not a stomach virus. That's one of my biggest fears, besides hurricanes coming, is one of us getting a stomach virus while at WDW.
At least Buzz & Woody had a great time while ya'll were at T-Rex!

Have you decided what outfit your ordering for Chloe? I sure do miss all those cute little girl clothes!!!

Like that tip, putting our info. on the list of what to take pictures of. Yeah, I know, I am never as organized as I would like to be and forget to genius things too!

T Rex was really well themed, too bad Chloe had to go ruin it:lmao:. No really I felt so horrible for her. She didn't care so much about being in wet clothes, but the fact that people were looking at her completely freaked her out. I was glad we didn't have a repeat of that experience.

We did enjoy the park part, just not T Rex, one day we will have to remedy that. Oh, that is my worst nightmare. The stomach virus is one ugly monster!

Oh yay! I need to hop over to your ptr soon and catch up. I know these 6 weeks are going to pass by so quickly. I can't wait to see disney in the fall and all decked out for halloween!

Hellooo Connie! Thanks! I do love that pic of Noah, really all that you can see that glimmer in the kids eyes.

Surprisingly enough my feet have almost healed. I think the band-aids did as much damage as the deep wounds:laughing:. My feet paid the price, but I did have a good time. You know I bet that the gulfport store would take us less time to get to, it would be interstate cruising the whole way. I do love the outlets!

I was talking the Joni (shelbysmommy) about going to the aquarium and trying to do a dismeet with her. Maybe you guys could come too. I am tentatively looking at Sept. 25, would you be interested?

Have fun at the zoo! And you too have a great weekend! Sunday is Noah's actual 4th birthday, but we are celebrating it next weekend. I did buy him a little cake though, and some ice cream. Gotta celebrate it a little.

Oh man.........kids up-chucking seem to be a trend going on in some of the TR I've been reading.....until now it never crossed my mind. Cody getting a croup flare up, yes, but puking, no. Now I am worried!!!! DOH!

Don't stress, after all you can't really do much about it. Immodium worked wonders with our last bout of stomach virus. I'd recommend packing it just in case.

You really will love Trex. We did the BAB dinosaur for Noah at the end of the trip and it is so cool! I recommend sharing an appetizer and meal, it really was alot of food, then it gives you more money for the adult beverages!

Noah really liked pirates league, if you can get appointments I would recommend it. So you have decided yes to MNSSHP?

sounds fun! I'll let you know; it will depend on what is going on downtown that weekend. Danny is hard to get into the New Orleans area, I can usually only get him to agree if there are no "big" crowds down there. Keep me posted and I'll let you know...

you mention interstate -- we are only 30 min from one another DS exit to Robert exit...I use to meet Gwendolyn's friend (from New Roads) at the Don's there once a month to let the girls spend the weekend together.

:wave2:

Oh no! That sucks that she got sick! Back ion 2005, my brother got really sick and spent a whole night in the bathroom. Hopefully Chloe is better for the rest of the trip!

Wasn't the best, but thankfully it was just that once. It is no fun being sick in disney, if only we could prevent those things from happening!

I love the shirts Chloe & Noah have on, they are too cute! (yours & DH look good too!)

Thanks girl! I made so many tees for that trip, mainly for the kids. I had some clothes we didn't even use that I had bought for the trip.

Muppetvision isn't horrible, but just could use an update. It doesn't even compare to Philharmagic.

I did laugh at the time, but Chloe didn't appreciate it much. It was one of those things you either laugh or cry at, she cried and I laughed. It could have been way worse, atleast it was late in the day and the only thing that was messed up was our meal at T-rex. Sorry to say that the food wasn't great anyway, so I wasn't too worried about not finishing my food.

I have picked out an outfit and the lady is working on it. I need to do an update to let everyone know. It won't be too much longer and I won't be able to get Chloe in the cute outfits, so I better enjoy it now.

I haven't checked on if the saints are playing or not. I was more worried about lsu games. I will keep you posted.

I know, we could just have a dis-meet in hammond if the aquarium doesn't work out. We live right off the Juban exit, we aren't far from each other at all.

Just checked the NO events calendar; I don't see anything at the moment that should keep him out of the city on the Saturday. Yes, the Saints are playing on Sunday (not sure about Tulane--but they don't bring out lots of crowds anyway...) he is leary of rowdy groups, so that weekend appears to be a great weekend. But, yes we are very close to we can meet up anywhere from here to Baton Rouge...
