has it started in your neighborhood yet?

I have no idea what that is :confused3

So probably no.... :thumbsup2

around the 1st. We have seen them, but the kids in our end of the neighborhood are getting older and we haven't been "Booed" in a few years. :(

To the PP:
It's very fun, and if there are a lot of kids in your neighborhood you might want to start it.

You make a small bag of Halloween goodies and drop it at a neighbors house, ring the bell and run. There is a poem that goes with it explaining that you have been "Booed" and that you should "Boo" a neighbor. You also leave them a paper ghost to hang on their door. That way you know who hasn't gotten one yet. Hopefully by Halloween everyone has been given a bag. Cute tradition for family oriented streets.

We don't boo in our neighborhood. I wish we did! :(

Ah, that's cute! I had never heard of it till now. People around here roll/teepee yards with toilet paper. I think booing sounds a lot nicer!

We're kicking it off our neighborhood tonight! I'm surprised it hasn't started already, since it usually has by now. My kids are excited to be the ones to get the ball rolling this year.

Now, where did I put the cute little chost sign from last year...? Off to the basement to look!

Brand new to this area, not sure if they Boo each other or not. In my old home town they didn't. Sounds like fun though.

We are starting it off in our neighborhood tomorrow! The kids and I are going to make black and orange play dough and we found some inexpensive halloween cookie cutters to tie to the tops of the play dough containers. I'm going to print out the play dough recipe to go along with it too.
While I was looking for a poem to print out and use (there are so many versions) I found this website- http://www.beenbooed.com
I think that's what we are going to use this year!
For those who don't have it in their area or neighborhood, why not be the one to start it? Nobody does it here as far as we are aware, but there are a lot of young families and we have a neighborhood Halloween party at the end of the month, so why not? The worst that can happen is that nobody passes it along.
If you don't have a super close neighborhood I would just suggest not doing any homemade baked goods. Not everyone wants to eat something if they don't know where it came from! Target and Michaels usually have fun little things to give out in their dollar bins, and of course there is the dollar store too.

monkeybug, I love your idea of black and orange playdough! We have a lot of young kids in our neighborhood, and it seems like we get booed several times so it can get a little expensive to fill nice bags. This would be fun for my kids to make and the younger ones to receive!

Thanks! One of the neighbors we are planning on booing recently brought us cupcakes and cinnamon rolls, so we wanted to do something non food for them (since they obviously have yummy treats on hand already).
One of the blogs I read also has some really cute halloween games that you print out, cut out, and laminate. There is a scavenger hunt one, a don't eat frank one (like don't eat Pete), and one called trick or treat. They are free and would also make great boo gifts. Especially the "don't eat Frank" one because you could give a bag of candy along with it to use as the game pieces. If anyone is interested I am happy to PM them the link. (The blog has a religious affiliation so I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it)

Aw, that sounds fun! Unfortunately, we don't really have "neighborhoods" where we live so much as dead end or circle drives off a highway... and OUR street only has one other house with a tween and a house with a high schooler, tween, and elementary schooler. I doubt the 80 year olds want to "boo" LOL

We might "boo" our little neighbor behind us, though. He wouldn't have to pass it on but he might like finding a little goodie bag (especially if mom knew it was from us and safe :thumbsup2

It is a blast! We got booed yesterday and put together a package for another family in the neighborhood. For those of you who posted that your neighborhood doesn't do it - be the first to get the ball rolling!!

I agree, for those who are interested, start it up! its so much fun. we definitely do kids, but last year we even got a moms one started up that was a ton of fun!

I think we will kick ours off this year starting tomorrow. I have all the stuff, just need to get some bags to put it in.

I love halloween! :)

After I wrote our post that we haven't been "Booed" in years.. we just got one. :)

Definitely go to Target during their 90% off sale and stock up for next year.
