Ok, here goes... August 16
I have never done this before so forgive me if it's not in the right format or like others you have read.
First off, we did not realize until we were told by a CM on day 2, but we started out with 35 Counter Service Meals which really did not differentiate between Child and Adult meals. The credits are equal because some eateries do not actually have kid's meals, so Disney just gives Counter Service Credits as a generic thing. It is up to you to order from the kid's menu, the CM checking you out has no idea how many Kid's Counter Service meals are available or have been used. Some even encourage you to get a dessert because a kid's meal comes with a cookie. BTW the dessert is included so why not...
August 16 we arrived at the Port Orleans Riverside @ 2PM and were able to check in right away. We requested building 14 to be close to boats/bus and food court/ gift shop,(FIL has bad knees) but because we arrived on Sunday building 14 was not available so we got building 27 which really was not much farther out than you would walk from the back of Walmart parking lot to the store. After dropping our carry-ons in the room we went to the food court to buy our refillable mugs.
1) My DD (9) wanted a kid's pizza meal, Counter-Service Credit, so I got her one which included a small bottle of juice/milk etc. (we took that to the room for later) but she used her mug to get root beer. DD ate all of the pizza which means it had to be REALLY good! 2) I used a snack credit for two pieces of garlic toast with marinara sauce. Toast was crunchy but flavorful and the marinara was really good.3) My MIL & FIL split a Muffalata combo meal, Counter-Service Credit, which included a nice chunk of Carrot cake, Chips and of course a large bottle of Milk or Juice. They used their mugs for Iced tea and took their bottle of juice to the room for breakfast. Muffalata was served chilled, something that was foreign to them being from New Orleans, they said it was good along with the kettle cooked chips, and they carrot cake was excellent!Total credits used: 1 Snack, 2 Counter Service
Then after going back to the room to drop off our drinks, my husband's drink mug (his plane would not be in until 10:45 PM) and our juice/milk bottles. My DD was hoping our luggage would be there, but we had only arrived one hour before so I knew they probably would not. I was right.
We took this first hour after arrival as a chance to get to know the grounds. After dropping off the stuff in the room we headed back toward the boat dock, BTW we always took the short-cut thru the Food Court and took this opportunity to refill our mugs for the boat ride. On to DTD for some shopping!
There was no wait for the boat, it made a stop at French Quarter which we took note of for future reference. (We wanted Beignets for breakfast at least once) Also took note that boat did not start until 10AM so we would be taking a bus (DTD one is only one that goes to FQ after it picks up Riverside)
Boat ride was nice. We stopped right at the marina where Cap'n Jack's Restaurant is... we had ressies there later in the week so we were happy to have learned several helpful tips already since arriving and riding the boat, things that would save us time later on for our outings...
After hitting Goofy's Candy Shop and picking out some things to purchase later on with snack credits we went to The Pin Trader to shop around for pins to trade and then to some of the other big shops to kill time before our next meal.
Well our Food Court "Meal" was our only thing to eat since breakfast at 6AM and a few pretzels on the plane so it did not take a lot of shopping for us to be ready for Wolf Gang Puck Express. (beside the Christmas Store and behind the carousel)
At Wolf Gang Puck Express:
1) My MIL & FIL split a Rotisserie Chicken and Garlic Potatoes meal (1/2 chicken) which was good because he likes dark she likes white and the frozen yogurt with strawberries & iced tea & water. They had plenty! We decided ahead of time we would split CS meals as to not overfeed our tummies and be miserable the whole trip. (1 CS meal)
2) My DD & I split a Cheese Pizza meal with frozen yogurt & sprinkles and Iced tea. (1 CS meal)
Total Credits used: 2 CS meals
We all felt very satisfied and were very comfortable walking around after our meal. We shopped a bit and then took the boat back to our resort. When we got to our room there our luggage was ready to be unpacked so that 's what we did! We went thru all of our books & brochures and maps for our week's activities while we waited for DH to arrive!
DH called around 11:00 to say he should be at the hotel by midnight... so we run back to the food court only to realize that the Muffalata shop closed at 10 and the grill closed at 11PM ( we thought that it was ALL open until midnight) So I call DH and he said get "whatever". I ended up getting him this yummy cheesy pasta with marinara and meat sauce which came with garlic toast and carrot cake and a drink, which of course was his chocolate milk for the AM and I filled his mug with tea. (1 CS used)
Total for first day... 5 CS meals, 1 snack credit. Doing GOOD!
