I'm wondering about the concierge level offerings @ the resorts. Does one resort have a "better" concierge level than the other? I've only stayed Poly,cl. I walked around the grounds @ GF while my kids were in cooking class. I loved the resort, thought it was beautiful. I decided not better then Poly, just different. I'm in the begining stages of planning my next trip 5/05 and am wondering what you all think about cl @ these resorts.

Thanks,

Brad

I'm interested in the responses to your ??, too, bhillier. We always stay Poly concierge, But I've been wanting to try different resorts. DH doesn't want to stay anywhere not on the monorail, so GF is my next choice.

Believe it or not, I think if we didn't go Poly (which isn't happening) we would do Contemporary Tower over GF. Still haven't tried WL yet either, but boy do we like the Monorail, it means alot to us. Sorry can't help with other concierge's other than the Poly.

Last year we gave the GF Sugarloaf a try. We loved the theming in the rooms but the concierge offerings were not what we were looking for. Breakfast was the same as the Poly, but that is where the similarities end. Maybe we don't appreciate the finer things in life, but honestly, much of the food was unidentifiable to our gang. That opinion was across the board for 4 adults and 6 kids, ages 6-12 yrs. We have always loved the goodies provided at the Poly, but as they say " to each his own ". Happy Planning!

I really had no interest in GF until we were dropping DS off at the Jr. Chef program and we took a walk around the grounds. Suddenly, I was very, very interested in staying at the GF. Any resort would have to work really hard to best the Poly in my opinion, but I may be willing to give the GF a try. I haven't heard too much about their concierge services on the boards, and would be interested in hearing some opinions/information.

Hi. Ok. Last year was my very first experience with concierge at the GF resort, Sugar Loaf. This year we are going to try a couple days at Poly concierge. From what I've researched (I actually called the Poly and spoke to the concierge chef a few weeks ago), it sounds like maybe the Poly might offer more food. I think that is because Sugar Loaf at the GF is not the GF's full concierge service- full one is more $ and is located in the main building. For example, Sugar Loaf does not include any alcohol. I'm also not sure if food service ends earlier at S.L.??? Still, I was very happy with what was offered... and of course, you get a chance to try out the GF- which does have beautiful rooms and grounds. I think all the bedspreads at S.L. are disney fairies. The only things I did not really like last year at the GF, food wise, was the spring rolls and some sort of pâté. Otherwise, they had fruit, cheese, cookies, some type of beef stuff a couple days, chips, scones, fruit tarts or other pastry, and various other items on different days. I really liked the scones and fruit tarts, because they were exactly the same items offered as if you went to tea at the G.F. Further, the people at concierge were very nice and helpful, as I'm sure they are at Poly. Anyway, I guess that I will know more for sure about how they compare when we go to the Poly in 2 weeks! Good luck with your planning.

What is it about Contemp Tower that you life more than the GF? I have not been drawn to that resort. What am I missing?

I agree that the Poly,cl ROCKS!!! and would be hard to beat.

What's the GF full cl like?

I'm thinging about Poly,cl x 4 nights then cruise 3 nights then return for 2 nights to either 1. Poly 2. GF, CL 3. beach/yacht club (for the pool).

The thing is that our last trip wa a Poly for 8 nights and we had such a good time that it's hard to imagine that anything could be better. On the other hand, we have not tried anything else.

So in put, opnions, sugestions........are welcome and needed Ha Ha Ha Thanks Brad

I've stayed at both. The Polynesian is wonderful, we had a poor experience at the GF CL, and will not likely go back, ever.

We've stayed CL at the Polynesian twice now, and loved it both times. The food is great, the staff is great, we just can't say enough.

Now if only the GF's restaurants were at the Polynesian, there'd be no reason to ever leave :)

By the way I think that's awesome trip you have planned.

Well, better than GF?

Room Size
Arcade
Chef Mickey's
BVG - awesome store
The burgers in the down stairs dining area
The view is better
Walk to MK

But then again we've never stayed at GF so this is just MHOP.

We stayed at the GF concierge level in May and June. In May we were in a 2 bedroom suite with full concierge access and in June we were in the main building. Since the suite was located in Conch Key, we often went to Sugarloaf concierge instead of the main building so I can compare them both. Morning/midday/afternoon offerings are the same in both (typical breakfast foods-fruit, cereal, pastries, etc.; fruits, vegetables, breads and dips between 11 and 2; assorted pastries, finger sandwiches for afternoon tea). The difference between the 2 comes at 5pm. The main building offers liquor between 5-7 and 8-10 and Sugarloaf does not. Also, Sugarloaf does not have desserts from 8-10 like the main building does--food service in Sugarloaf stops at 7pm. The 'dinner' offerings at both varied, but there were always fruits and vegetables, a tray of sliced meats, 2 chafing dishes of hot items (sometimes they changed these throughout the 2 hour period, but typically included things like beef, crabcakes, stuffed mushrooms, chicken), a variety of breads and cheeses, cookies, brownies, rice krispie treats, and other snacks that I can't remember. The desserts, however, were my favorite part of the day--about 8 types of pastries, chocolate covered strawberries, cookies, brownies, rice krispie treats, liquors, assorted teas, etc. If you're not big on desserts or alcohol, Sugarloaf would be fine, but knowing that those desserts were waiting for me back in the lounge saved me money on dinner cause I never had to order a dessert/coffee. We have only stayed in a regular room at the Poly, but plan to go back in April so hoepfully we can try their concierge then.

Sounds nice. Thanks for the posts. Now I'm also considering either the yacht or beach club so that we would be able to use stormalong bay. Just not sure what direction to go in with this.

1. stay @ Poly - Rocks!
2. GF - awesome
3. stormalong bay (maybe we should just buy a ticket to the water park). - looks fun

What to do, what to do..........any ideas?

I've only ever done concierge at the Poly and LOVE it but you might want to consider the YC/BC CL since you're already doing 4 nights at Poly it might be nice to have a couple of nights at an Epcot resort. I did stay at YC without CL and it was really nice but I must admit that it doesn't have the Magic for me that the Poly does. That doesn't mean I wouldn't stay there again. You can't beat the location.

We have stayed both main building conceirge and sugar loaf. I have loved them both. Since we dont drink too much alchohol the differences did not bother us. Unlike most people on these boards I love the GF conceirge and could not stay any other place. Although this year We are trying WL because so many people say such great things about it, I have to see what its all about!! We went to the Poly last year to check it out and I just did not get it. But thats Ok- different strokes. To me it had a very distinct smell, but maybe it was just in the area we visited.

Anyway I dont think you can go wrong with GF conceirge...it is one of the nicest hotels, and even if Disney was not right there I would still stay there just for the resort!
