GF Tea Solo?

I am going to be solo for a couple of days on my upcoming trip (October). For the most part, I don't have a problem dining alone, but would it be weird for me to make an ADR for GF afternoon tea as a solo? I guess the few teas I've been to were meant more for groups of at least two people, but it looks like GF's menu is flexible enough where I could do it alone.

Go for it... two of my really good DISfriends introduced me to the GF Tea last December (Thanks Cait and Sharon!) and I will NEVER make another trip to WDW without going... even if that meant going alone. Try the Nobo Whole Fruit Tea... it's beyond yummy! :surfweb:

Edited to add: (Thanks Simba's Mom) - it looks like my group is going a week later than Simba's Mom, so depending on your trip dates... perhaps you can join us as well!

Although I haven't done the GF tea solo, I know several solos who have, and none of them felt uncomfortable. When in October are you going? Depending on when, I'll be solo for a few days in October, and I
'd love to meet another DISer for tea. Let me know if you want to meet!

I've done the tea solo! It was really relaxing. Ask to be seated near a window. When I was there there was a wedding party taking photos in the garden. The servers are very good at making you feel comfortable if you've never been in a tea room before. I have, and found it a little annoying that they explained everything in detail, but if you are a first-timer no worries.

I want to go on my next trip, but I'm bringing my Dad on my former solo trip and I think he'd hate it there. I'll have to wait until my next trip, but would love to do it again.

my SIL stays at the GF on every trip she takes to Disney and always has tea alone while her husband takes her 3 crazy kids to the pool! Trust me the other guests will just be glad to be there enjoying their tea and won't be concerned with your solo status at all! The portions weren't big when DH and I went, I could have easily devoured the entire tray of goodies they brought myself, so do it shamelessly and enjoy! I agree that you should ask for a window seat and just revel in the atmosphere. :wizard:

YES!!!!!! GO FOR IT!!! its wonderfully relaxing. I went Mem. Day weekend in 2007 as a study break (was in nursing school at the time) while I was at WDW and loved it! The tea was a lifesaver as I had a headache starting and got the harmony tea and by the time I left I was refreshed.

I've gone solo twice. I find it a really nice break in my day. I head over to the GF early so I can enjoy the lobby and the air conditioning before my ADR.
The first time the person seating me seemed a little confused by the whole solo thing, but I've had no problems with the servers or other people enjoying their tea while I was there.

GF Tea is a ritual for DD & I on every trip. I would have no problem going solo and am considering it for my Sept trip with DS who would never go with me because he thinks it's too girly for him plus he doesn't like tea.:confused3

Go for it, you will enjoy it....love those scones w/raspberry jam, yummy!

Thank you to everyone for the wonderful replies! You have convinced me!

I will be there with my friends/coworkers beginning on October 9, but the solo part of my trip will most likely be Oct. 15 and 16 (I'm still waiting for one coworker to let me know when he is departing since he hasn't booked his ressie yet). My tentative plan for doing tea is the 15th.

Awesome thread! Thanks OP for starting it. You all are re-assuring me. I have booked the GF Tea for my solo trip in December and I have been debating a bit in my mind about it.

I read that this "Afternoon Tea" at the GF costs about $200...is that true? Eeks. I think I'd rather go to the Rose 'n Crown for a quick pint!

The GF tea is not that expensive at all....I think they must have Victoria & Alberts mixed up with the tea!

You may be thinking of the special storytime tea where little girls get a doll. I think that one is about $200 for one adult and one child.

Tea in the Garden View Lounge is very reasonable
