Hi Disfriends!

DH and I are toying with the idea of doing the runDisney event in November. We would be meeting friends to do the run, but it would be just the two of us. We are DVC and our home resort is GF. We are toying with the following:

1. GF theme park view, studio
2. Boulder Ridge, 1 bedroom
3. Copper Creek, 1 bedroom

I can book the GF today, as it's our home resort and we've never stayed in one of the new studios and we like the idea of a theme park view. However, also really like the idea of a one bedroom at WL...the full kitchen and laundry are super appealing, and we've never stayed at WL. It's been on our list to try. I'm a little worried, because I can't book there until the 7 month window, which would be at the beginning of April. I'm wondering if these will be available then.

Here are my questions:

1. Should I book GF today, with the idea that if one of the 1 bedrooms at WL is available at the 7 day month mark, I can just modify my stay?

2. If, on the off chance both CC and Boulder Ridge 1 bedrooms are available, which one should I book? What's the difference between the two different one bedrooms? I've done some digging online and I've watched some videos. I'm a little confused. It looks like CC are overall newer, but in some videos, it seems that BR has been updated too? Is there an advantage of one over the other in terms of location at WL?

3. If I do book GF today, and then I don't get into the runDisney event when registration opens on Tuesday, can I cancel that booking? What happens to my points if I cancel? I have February UY, if that helps. We need to make a decision about what to do with our remaining points (the ones we'd use to book this trip) by September 30th of this year.

Sorry...lots of questions. I'm a DVC newbie, and we are taking our welcome home trip later this week. I honestly can't believe we're actually thinking of another trip this year; I'm so excited!

Any advice would be terrific!

Hi , you definitely need to book at your home resort and then switch the reservation at the seven month mark. This way you have a roof over your head.

For the second question, Boulder Ridge just underwent a total refurbishment, so the rooms are brand new. There are some videos on youtube with the newest one bedroom.

Have a wonderful stay :flower1:

Nearly all DVC rooms everywhere at WDW fill for the Wine & Dine race weekend (Thur through Sat nights) before 7-months out. If you own at VGF, you should reserve it today if there is an opening, and then if a change is desired, do a modification at 7-months out if, by chance, anything else you want is available.

BRV is undergoing a refurb, not done yet for all rooms but should be before Nov, and thus the rooms should be in great shape for the race time. The BRV 1BRs (727 sq ft) are larger than the 1BRs at and CCV (675 sq ft). Both provide all the amenities of WL, although CCV, being in the main building, provides the shorter trip to the main themed pool and restaurants. The BRV 1BR refurb has also resulted in the pull-out couch in the living room changing to a couch that collapses when you pull down a Murphy bed from the wall, which many have found to be more comfortable than the pull-out couch bed. CCV will still have the pull-out couch in Nov.

To avoid holding, you can cancel any reservation up to 31 days before arrival and the points go back into your account the same way they went into the reservation (current use year points remain current, banked points remain banked, borrowed points remained borrow). With a Feb use year, you have until Sep 30 to bank any 2023 points into 2024. Thus, you can easily cancel a VGF reservation next month without any penalty.

Thank you so much!

I booked a studio at VGF, so we definitely have a roof over our head. While I'm excited to try a resort studio at VGF of the first time, we really think we'd like a 1 bedroom. Having the full kitchen and laundry is pretty appealing. We're leaning towards CC, but would take BR if that's all that's available. Do I have a shot at a 1BR at WL on April 1?

Since you are a newbie, have you heard that you will want to be online at exactly 8 am eastern at the 7 month mark to try for the 1 bedroom. They could go quickly if there are any left.

@Donna M thank you so much for the tip! I didn't realize I would have to be on right at 8 am. This is good "intel". April 1 is my 7 month mark. We leave tomorrow for our welcome home trip, and we arrive home late at night/early in the am on March 31/April 1. I was planning to let myself sleep in, but now I'll be sure to set my alarm.

CC is fantastic, probably my favorite Disney resort stay so far - definitely recommend!

Hi all! OP here. I just wanted to let you know I was able to snag a 1 bedroom at Copper Creek this morning! Thanks so much for all of your advice!
