GF Portrait Artist

Does anyone know if you can schedule a time to have a portrait done with one of the artists at the GF and if so how far in advance and who to contact to make an appointment?

I've not actually done one of the portraits (a couple DISers have). But I did ask about it.

You can make an appt. You probably wouldn't need to schedule too far in advance. It looked like the artist had a lot of down time where she was available.

On drawing youngsters, I think she had an age cutoff where she would do them "live". She takes 30 - 45 minutes of still time, and on kids under 4 (???) she'll need a picture to draw from (this is what pulled me away from doing it).

Cost was around $80 for the portrait. Seems like she would do something different to it (matte it???) for an extra charge around $120. Also, the more the merrier (and the more expensive) - more than person increases the charge.

The couple of DISers that did it spoke well of it. It was a tradition we were going to start with DD, if not for the drawing from a picture. It kind of took away capturing the moment right then.

My DH and I did one of the portraits and we just walked up with out making an appointment. The man that we went to was not that busy and it was a come as you please reservation. I would feel the crowd out for the first couple of days then if it looks like he is busy try to make an appointment other wise come when you are ready. And you need to do it because it is so worth it.

I do not know about the artist at GF but there was one at BC and she was wonderful SHe would do it from a photo or live If you woud like and she would make any changes that you wanted to the photo ---- like clothing background etc. She said was interested in smiles, eyes facial features etc. in the picture


She would also do live but that depended on what people wanted


She was very very very good and I would highly recommend her.
