Hi there.

We are planning a last minute trip to the World over Labor Day this year. We book through one of the authorized Disney travel agencies, which is offering an insane deal at either the Yacht Club or the Grand Floridian. We haven't stayed at the Yacht Club in years (like 15+) but are big fans of the Beach Club, because we love the pool. We have never stayed at the GF but at the agency negotiated rate it's hard to resist. I'm wondering whether the construction of the GF DVC will hamper the experience at GF. Since we anticipate very hot weather, we definitely plan on spending a lot of time at the pool. How does the pool at the GF compare to YC? We have a 3 y/o who cannot swim yet but loves wading in the sand bottom pool. I'd love some input whether we should stick with the YC which i consider a "sure thing" resortwise or take a chance on the GF.
Thanks!

we are actually booked at the YC for that weekend, but would switch to the GF for that rate... may i ask who you got it through? or can you Pm me that info?

I agree! The construction at the GF isn't intrusive enough to pass that up-- especially if this is a once in a lifetime type opportunity.

I am also curious what agency is offering that kind of rate!

The room decor at YC is MUCH classier than at the GF, and the pool is better, so I'd say YC! GF has some great restaurants though, and the monorail, when it's working. :thumbsup2

That is an awesome rate and can't be beat for the GF. But with that said, although we've never stayed at the YC but have stayed at the BC, I would choose the YC over the GF in this situation. SAB isn't our favorite pool on property and even though we thought it was just ok, I would choose that over the GF pool. We didn't care for the GF pool and with there being construction there, I would opt for the YC, especially if the pool is a big factor.

Is that $159 a night or $ 159 a person? If the former, it has to be the cheapest rate in the history of that hotel. The rack rate over the Labor Day weekend is $495 per night, so this would mean a 67% discount. This doesn't sound right, but if you can get this low price, don't pass on the opportunity at staying at the GF.
Also, why would anyone stay at a moderate, or any of the other deluxe WDW hotels, when you can get that rate at Disney's most expensive and flagship resort?

I'm not sure how to PM! Can you pm me and then maybe i can figure out how to reply??

That is an amazing rate... Please share...

I sent you a PM...

I would choose based on where you spend more time...

GF if you prefer MK or YC if you prefer Epcot.

Both have their benefits so it really depends on your plans.

Although me personally Grand Floridian.. Hands down

The extra charge for any adult over 2 per room is $25, so that means that WDW is also waiving for you the $50 per night charge for the extra 2 people.
I really would check with your travel agent again because this seems to good to be true.

The dates are 8/23-9/3.

I have this same deal booked from July 15-25 at the YC. I booked this thru the Disney Institute with a conference.

This is the deal we booked with as well for the Grand Floridian. We were at the Yacht Club first, but changed our minds.
It is a very good deal. It doesn't exactly work out to the room rate being that cheap though. You have to include at least two day tickets. So with the ticket cost it worked out to about 298 per night for the 5 of us. Still very good. The tickets are NOT upgradable though you can add more days through the agency.

We have Annual Passes so the tickets would have been useless to us, but we are bringing dd's friend who doesn't have tickets and I have confirmed she can use a different 2 day ticket every other day so at least we make use of them.
You can not add the ddp but to give you an idea of deal..
I was booked for the 5 of us in a suite at AoA with free dining (upgraded to regular ddp) for about $3400.00

The same dates at the GF with the 2 day tickets worked out to $2088.00
The difference in price will cover us for food pretty much so in the end I am staying at the GF for pretty much the same price as AoA.

If anyone needs anymore info feel free to pm me:) (and no I am not in any way shape or form a TA:rotfl:)

Perhaps we are discussing different agencies since you aren't mentioning the ticket add on but we might not be.. you might be quoting what the room is with the ticket portion subtracted.

Do you know if any of the pools will be closed at the GF? That is my only concern. I looked through the GF thread but couldn't get a straight answer. I just figure that it's going to be hot so we are definitely going to be spending time at the pool, and stormalong bay is awesome, but i've never been to GF so i'm not sure how it compares. I know GF is supposed to be very nice but i'm afraid the construction may hamper the experience - hence the reduced rate.

were you able to read my pm? sorry, i've lurked for years but haven't posted much!

Wow that is such a great rate. I would love to stay on the monorail at GF! If you don't get the GF what would happen? No hotel at all or down graded?

If you know YC is a sure thing I would go with it. That is amazing rate even adding the cost of 2 day tickets.

so its not a room only deal? we also have AP's, so may not work for us?!?
