Good morning!

Well, my hubby to be knows me well (and I converted him to a Disney lover on our last trip) - he suggested a week at Disney for our honeymoon/one year anniversary in 2020! Yes, it's a long way away, but half the fun for me is planning, so here I am!

I am considering resorts - I have -always- wanted to stay at the GF, but the price kind of makes me choke (especially since I'm Canadian) so one night there is about all I can justify.

I'm debating if it would be better to do 1 night at the GF and 6 at Port Orleans - French Quarter, OR 7 at the Yacht and Beach Club.

I haven't stayed at any of these resorts (I've done the Value resorts and Coronado Springs before), and hubby to be hasn't ever stayed on property. Any thoughts/suggestions/options would be appreciated!

I'd do 7 at YC/BC, with Park Hopper tickets. Keep in mind the new lands at DHS will be open, and you're walking distance of Epcot World Showcase from there.

Do a nice dinner at Grand Flo.

I would do YC/BC as well, less hassle of moving and comparing, especially for a special trip like that, great restaurants all within a short walk! I would probably spring for a dinner at Victoria and Albert's to get the GF vibe :)

BC or YC. BC is our favorite resort, with GF coming in a close second. GF is amazing, but 1 night isn't enough to enjoy the resort and definitely not enough to have to bump to a moderate for the rest of the trip.

I'm the odd one out...but POFQ has a very romantic feel to it. The quaint size and cobble stone paths are great for just strolling around. There are plenty of restaurants just a boat ride away at DS. I would definitely book dining at GF
though.

I've stayed at YC before and it just felt busy with too many people bustling around. I wasn't a fan even though the walk to Epcot was fantastic.

I would probably pick the YC as it would have a more formal feel like the GF, and not be as family oriented as the BC. You would be able to walk to both HS and Epcot. I also second the opinion to make sure you have park hoppers if you stay at the BC/YC.

YC/BC, I like split stays, but I don't think that one night is enough to really experience the GF and relax, and agree with others about park hoppers when staying at the Epcot resorts.

I'd absolutely go with YC. Having each night in a luxurious deluxe resort rather than most nights in a mod and only one in the GD appeals much more to me. Honestly, one night wouldn't be long enough for me to really get relaxed and enjoy the resort. Plus, YC/BC are so convenient to two parks! Yes, I'd definitely go with Yacht Club.

After talking with future hubby, he's leaning more towards the entire stay at a Port Orleans, suddenly. This would give us more spending money for other things (like V&A's, etc). I've never stayed deluxe, and at twice the price per night, now I'm not sure if it'd be worth it for us.

Boo on him for making me think! :P

We did YC for our honeymoon. It was my first time staying on property (previously had only stayed off-site). IT. WAS. AMAZING!!! I loved being able to walk to EP and HS. The Boardwalk area at night is so awesome, all lit up with the lights reflecting off the water. A most excellent (and romantic) place for a honeymoon, IMO. :love2:

The "down" side to this, is that I now don't like staying off-property. We also ended up buying into DVC (at BWV) a year later because we loved the area so much.

Plus, if you stay at YC, and he has a fantastic time at that location, it might be easier to convince him to stay there again in the future. Just sayin'... :thumbsup2

Happy planning!

Hi DH and I honeymooned at POFQ and had a fantastic time. We thought about deluxe but we had a trip elsewhere we wanted to do a few months later so we went with POFQ We have gone back to POFQ every trip since. While we would like to stay at YC/BC at the price it means giving up another trip during the year to a beach or somewhere else so the extra vacation wins in our book. We love to boat to DS and none of the parks are very seem far away.Plus extra spending money so you can splurge on meals and maybe the spa is a plus . Eighteen years later we have no regrets we didn't go deluxe.

we went to 1900 park faire or whatever it is a few years back. I honestly thought the Grand floridian didn't look very special. A number of places were flat out run down. Compare to the fact that beach/yacht has a nice pool, is centrally located to two parks and I don't think there is any comparison.

Y'all will have many years together to plan more trips to WDW. There is plenty of time to try out a deluxe resort in the future. A good compromise would be a half and half split with POFQ & YC/BC.

FWIW, I think you could have a lovely honeymoon at POFQ. I wouldn't do one night elsewhere. I would go all-in, wherever you stay.

if you are going to use the pool, yc/bc is so nice. you can chill at that pool all day. walk out to epcot and have a drink, walk back, much different experience than other places.

I would go with YC. You can walk to Epcot and DHS, plus you have the Boardwalk restaurants and entertainment right there. The pool is awesome too!

The Grand Floridian is spectacular, but you will not enjoy it as much if it breaks your budget. We did not stay there until our mid fifties. Hopefully there are plenty of anniversaries to come for you.
