GF at AOA and the F & W festival

This will be our first trip to disney with my DD(9) and DH as GF. We are staying at AOA and our annual fall break tradition of the F&W festival. Will there be anything at the F&W booths they can eat or will they have to get some GF QS while the rest of us eat around the booths? Thanks for advice! Very curious about bfast and dinner options at AOA

For breakfast at AoA you'll have the options of Nemo waffles or a large round waffle, large breakfast platters (eggs, french fries instead of breakfast casserole, breakfast meat(s), etc), probably some other stuff and my personal favourite, the "steak" and egg sandwich which is a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg which is still partially runny. OMG so good.

For dinner there are plenty of options. Note that they do not carry the allergy chicken tenders. They can do the create your own pasta, create your own salad, a variety of burgers, pizza, probably some of the sandwiches and I think that a bunch of the tandoori station is gluten free. You can also get smoothies, babycakes cupcakes and a wide variety of gluten free snacks.

At least all of what I just said was true as of last August.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if there is any gf cereal options or if they can do alfredo sauce with the pasta? Most all the gf reviews I see are also dairy free which we are not

I don't believe that there are any GF cereals anywhere at WDW unfortunately. We tend to pack cereal in our suitcase (we fly SWA or JB so no extra cost for luggage to do so) and order milks along with our water from Garden Grocer so we can have quick breakfasts in our room and only go buy hot breakfasts on days where we're planning to spend at least the morning around the resort.

I really don't know about the alfredo sauce. All 3 of us who are GF are also milk free. In addition to the sauces though, they will sautee the pasta with the protein and veggies in olive oil if you'd like. That was a really tasty option as well.

Thanks- we will plan on bringing a box of gf cereal (along with our kind & Luna bars)
My daughter will love the olive oil & protein option as she doesn't care for tomato sauce.

I think the pesto sauce is also be gluten free if that's a flavour she would enjoy. I'm not 100% positive since we can't have it due to I think parmesan cheese in it but the chefs will know.

Last time we were told "I'm not sure that the pesto is gluten free, so I only used a little bit" Also, the alfredo isn't gluten free. They've done butter and parm on gluten free pasta for our kids though.


For the Food and Wine festival - last year there was a list of what things were gluten free (some with modifications). We usually gave the booth a hairy eyeball to see if it "felt safe" based on what we could see of the serving area. We were at AoA for a week last October as a gluten free family and found many options there. First off, Baby Cakes at the resort We seriously must have eaten them 5 or 6 times over the week, the best snack credit around for GF (except for maybe the Dole Whip...). The chefs did a good job with what they had and we were able to order almost anything from off the menu adapted. We had chicken, burgers and Mickey Waffles. I will say that we prefered to go over to Pop to eat most days though. the chefs there were amazing and made us some of the best food of our trip INCLUDING table service meals. We had some stirfry's that were incredible and one night the chef delivered a special dessert to my kids while they out watching the movie. To have the chef come out personally and deliver a couple of GIANT ice cream sundaes with the works in front of everyone made their trip It was one of the nicest things we have ever had happen.

Thanks so much for the info! I really appreciate the F&W link and I'm sure they will have more specific info for this year as time draws closer. We are considering Yacht club for SOB and access to Epcot for F&W but looking hard at AOA for the extra room. So nice on vacation to have separate sleeping areas and bathrooms for kids & parents. I need to find out how good the GF options are over at Yacht Club so I can really compare. Any advice? Thanks for the help!

If you're wanting QS food at YC, you'll be very disappointed. They've got some great TS restaurants, but very little in the way of QS. Things may have improved in the 1.5 years since we stayed, but back then there wasn't a single thing my kids and I could eat there. I believe they've gotten in Babycakes at Beachclub Marketplace since then and I think you may be able to get the allergy chicken tenders and allergy buns at Hurricaine Hanna's now but I'm not positive.

When we stayed there, we had groceries for our breakfasts and snacks, ate QS in the parks and then TS for dinner. It really is a great area if you're looking for mostly TS around your resort.
