Has anyone done this solo? I made an ADR for myself in June but am unsure about being solo. I will be with my 2 DSs who would not enjoy the food. I will also be in Disney in April with my DH but again the food would not appeal to him at all. I guess I could bring a book to read, I never really dined solo before so help me decide.

i would definitely have the tea solo. have you had an afternoon tea before? it’s supposed to be a slower affair with a nice pot of tea and lots of small bites. to me, a solo tea would be sort of like a spa afternoon—a nice break to yourself so you can recharge. take a book, enjoy the view and ambiance, and enjoy yourself :flower1:

I just got back from a trip that was combined with a conference, so I dined alone many times. I really enjoyed the time to recharge. I usually put in my order, chat with my waiter, people watch, and browse on my phone. I usually wasn't even the only solo diner! I would definitely go, take your time, and enjoy!

I agree with the above posters. Dining solo is quite common at WDW and afternoon tea is a nice slow break. We have done Afternoon tea at GF twice before but not in its current location. Very relaxing go and enjoy!

I've gone to Disney solo the past two years. I enjoyed the first trip so much that I went again last year. Both times, I booked deluxe dining and all of my meals were at table service restaurants. I have not been to the GF Afternoon Tea but if I have the opportunity to go in the future, I definitely would. I think I didn't do it on the past two trips is because it is not included in the dining plan and I didn't want to pay OOP due to the Deluxe plan being expensive. I say, go and enjoy.

DO IT! Bring a book or magazine, enjoy your tea, enjoy the experience.

Make sure your family understands it can take a really really long time though, like 3 or 4 hours. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Haven't had afternoon tea at Disney, solo, or with others yet but certainly have enjoyed tea by myself at other locales. Fun!

I have been to tea at the Grand Floridian a half dozen times and with other people the same number of times. I enjoy it either way, but I think I might like solo the best because the other people I’ve been with just don’t seem to enjoy it as much as I do and that takes a bit away from my relaxing time there. Go solo and Enjoy!

I have done several solo dining reservations at WDW. I always bring my kindle to read while waiting for my food to come. It feels a little weird at first but then you realize no one actually cares what you are doing since everyone is focused on their families. I have a reservation for afternoon tea solo in April.

Yes, I've done the Tea as a solo diner, and I loved it. The only downside was not having someone else to order a different dessert course and then be able to split them... :) It is a very calm dining space. If you're not used to dining alone, definitely bring something to read or keep your attention- there aren't a lot of people going in and out to spend the whole time people watching.
