...is this going to be a crazy mad dash to book at the 7 month mark? I mean, I know it's going to go fast, but are we talking Poly studio-level insanity, or just regular Disney insanity?

Can not give you an answer based on any data, but I would say, regular disney dash. Poly is new and VGF 1 bed rooms are very point expensive.

Thanks :) Our first choice is the Poly studio, but want to be realistic, and also have some good backup plans.

Right now there is a 1 bedroom lake view from December 25 to 30, soldout December 31. Standard view is only available Dec 24 & 25. Poly studios are available the entire week. I think Poly studios are much easier to get.

I think the dash on Poly will be at 7 months. VGF is sold through, so more likely to book up within 11-7.

Right now the Poly is available all of December except for the 3rd to the 7th. With the higher point requirements for the holiday week, I don't think it will be a problem.

All the Poly members have booked that first week. It's now waiting on all the SSR points to be bookable... :teeth:

The VGF 1 Bedroom is a strange animal.
VGF is a small resort, so the home resort folks obviously have first dibs.

Then, a one bedroom can be purposed as a 1 bedroom, or combined with the adjoining studio to make a lock-off 2BR. So home resort folks needing either a 1 BR or a 2BR lock-off can snap these up. There are up to 47 1 bedrooms available, but this number reduces as someone books a 2BR lock-off.

On the other hand, studios are very popular at VGF because they are the least number of points. And when someone books a studio, that leaves an orphan 1 BR which cannot be combined into a 2 BR. So the 1 BR is in inventory. These tend to be more available than the studios because you still just get 5 sleeping spots like in a studio, but almost double the points. In spite of this, the 1 BR's are popular because of the extra privacy they afford.

Late December is the priciest point period, so people who are stretching their points avoid it. But it is a time of year when many people can take some time off, so some are still willing to pay the high point costs.

Bottom line: Your chances of a 1BR in late December are probably better than for getting any other room layout at VGF, but odds are still small.

and this is why we are so happy to have our fixed week at poly for that first week of decemeber!
