The VGF 1 Bedroom is a strange animal.
VGF is a small resort, so the home resort folks obviously have first dibs.
Then, a one bedroom can be purposed as a 1 bedroom, or combined with the adjoining studio to make a lock-off 2BR. So home resort folks needing either a 1 BR or a 2BR lock-off can snap these up. There are up to 47 1 bedrooms available, but this number reduces as someone books a 2BR lock-off.
On the other hand, studios are very popular at VGF because they are the least number of points. And when someone books a studio, that leaves an orphan 1 BR which cannot be combined into a 2 BR. So the 1 BR is in inventory. These tend to be more available than the studios because you still just get 5 sleeping spots like in a studio, but almost double the points. In spite of this, the 1 BR's are popular because of the extra privacy they afford.
Late December is the priciest point period, so people who are stretching their points avoid it. But it is a time of year when many people can take some time off, so some are still willing to pay the high point costs.
Bottom line: Your chances of a 1BR in late December are probably better than for getting any other room layout at VGF, but odds are still small.
