When ordering quick service at Geyser Point, can you sit in the lounge space to eat.

As each meal offers an alcoholic beverage, can one choose from the lounge menu or are you limited to the quick service area?

Are the nonalcoholic whip drinks eligible as a beverage?

1. **According to recent posters, they are saying you can not sit in the lounge any longer.**
2. You would have to choose your drink from the QS counter for them to be able to ring up your order with your food.
3. From the Disney website for Geyser Point Drink Menu: Northwest Berry Whip (Non-Alcoholic) $4.29

Each Quick-Service meal includes (for breakfast, lunch or dinner):

  • 1 Entrée
  • 1 Nonalcoholic Beverage (or Alcoholic Beverage, for Guests 21 and older)

Thanks!

Is the place worth a special trip from the Grand Floridian?
If you have the time why not. The food won't wow you but it's more than fine and the atmosphere is beautiful. Such a great spot to sit and unwind on a beautiful sunny day.

The lounge is not open seating for the walk-up counter anymore. It used to be, but now there are signs to see a host.

For the walk-up counter (QS), there are covered patio tables nearby available.

For the lounge, a host will seat you and waiters will take your order from the QS menu and/or lounge menu. From my experience speaking to a host a few weeks ago: the QS menu is on the DDP, the lounge menu is not. Either way, you will be serviced just like a sit down restaurant, so gratuity is expected.

The food is very good and imo one of the best use of QS in the MK resort area.

This is correct. And if you sit in the lounge, it is not DDP eligible. We ate there in March and the greeters were being super-explicit about it.

You cannot order at the walk-up window then take a table inside.

You can only get a drink from the walk-up window as part of a DDP allocation. You cannot order at the bar.

So the QS menu is not DDP eligible inside the lounge? We would have sat there, but there was a wait.

We dined at GP when it first opened, and glad they stopped open seating in the lounge.

Those who have said you cannot take window food into the seating area are correct -there's a podium where you wait to be seated. Great place for a drink in the afternoon. A meal destination, not so much.

This is specifically what I was wondering. Patio tables are fine and the cs food looks good.

So where do you eat when you’ve purchased counter service?

Lol. This is one reason why if you look through some of the threads on GP, you'll find a lot of criticism over the current concept (or lack thereof) of the place and the way it is being managed. The people we've seen go to the counter are typically taking the food elsewhere -I'm guessing to the pool area across the way. WL is our favorite resort, and GP is typically a nice rest stop in between other things. The view is gorgeous. Right now however, it's trying to be a pool bar, a TS, a QS, and a lounge all at the same time. The menu keeps changing as well, with generally "OK" food quality.

Appreciate the heads up.

If you do go, we have found the best experience to be just walking up and taking a seat at the bar. Last time we were there, even the CM's at the podium seemed confused. The view from the bar is gorgeous, and you can order food. I would recommend it for that but again, I can't say the place would draw me there for a meal.

It's not QS inside the lounge, basically. It's a lounge. Only the walk-up window is QS. Inside the lounge, it is a lounge. There is table seating and menus like a TS, but they do not accept DDP (and it would be a poor value on the DDP for a TS credit if they did).

ETA: I don't think most QS is built with the idea of it being a "dining destination." Geyser Point is a weird little hybrid and I don't think its intent is to be a QS destination window. When we grabbed some food at the walk-up window, we were staying at BRV, and simply wandered back to the common room there. Many people take their food to the pool.

I agree with the weird hybrid. The website lists The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge as Lounges and Geyser Point Bar & Grill as Quick Service (with a lunch, dinner, and lounge menu).

The lounge host said we were still allowed to order off the lunch/dinner menu inside the lounge, even using the DDP like we’ve done in the past, but according to what you are saying, that’s not the case.

We put our names down for a table, went to the bar to buy drinks while we waited (20-30 min) for the table, and the bartender was clearly upset about this, and seemed to think we shouldn't have sat at the bar without ordering food too. It was one of the weirder encounters on our trip. Once we had a table everything was lovely. We only pay OOP, so the dining plan issue wasn't a factor.

Let's talk about Geyser Point...

1) The BUILDING is stunning.
2) Half of the BUILDING is consumed by the failed "Reunion Station".
3) GP no longer offers Breakfast. QS at other times is questionable.

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.

Geyser Point is a VERY confused location, searching for a purpose. It is currently a Pool Bar. A very STUNNING Pool Bar...
It is in no way either a QS, or Sit-down, with a real purpose. One day? It might be. Today is not that day. We'll have to wait for WL Management to figure out why that stunning building is there, and what it's purpose is.

I find it’s best to think of it purely as lounge. Great for a snack and a drink. First come first served. Small plates, cocktails, great view. But to your point WL needs an actual pool bar! The two QS locations (geyser point counter service and roaring fork) are both a bit odd. I would keep Geyser Point as a lounge, turn Geyser Point counter into a pool bar with its own name, and take most of the options at Geyser Point CS and add them to Roaring Fork’s location.

Now that I’ve dined there I can comment on GP. We dined there as a family the other night. Service was slow and inefficient but competent and cheerful. Prices of food were extremely reasonable for a resort, but DH thought the portions were small. It has never seemed overly busy and I’m sure it will be revamped at some point. DH thought GP should should be where the salon is so more people would see it or sit there while their older kids swam.

When did the Trout Pass pool bar go away? There has been one pool drink server each day and only during peak hours. I’m not inclined to walk over to GP all wet so no pool drinks for me. The cost and calorie savings are probably good, but vacation calls for pool drinks!
