we plan to visit the Getty Center before DL - they no longer take Saturday parking reservations - what is the parking situation like on a Saturday?

The Getty has a pretty large parking garage. If you get there in the morning, it shouldn't be a problem. Some questions though......
Are you going to the Getty then to DL the same day? If so, where you planning to stay, LA or near DL? The reason I ask is because of the time factor. It is about 45 min. between the two.
Then, depending on how much you get "in to" the Getty, you're probably looking at a minimum of 3 hours there. It's BIG! Have a great time!

Thanks for the advice - we are flying into LAX from Tampa on a Saturday and we arrive around 10am - we are planning to stay Saturday night in L.A. or even north in Ventura, or possibly down in Anaheim - I wanted to check on some of the city tours first before I decide, because we plan to take a city tour on Sunday and then check in to the Grand Californian for three nights Sun-Tuesday, so our options are open - I think the Getty will be more for lunch on the terrace and a 2-hour look around - even though we arrive in the am, it will seem three hours later to us, so your advice is well-taken. I have looked into LACity Tours out of Santa Monica and I just need to check if you have to start there or if they pick up all over - we will have a rent-a-car and will do most of our driving on the weekend, so a drive up the Pacific Coast Highway to Ventura for Saturday night is one possibility (and then drive to the tour on Sunday and then to the GC after the tour). Too ambitious

Saturday traffic near the Getty Center and West LA in general is pretty busy. I'd double your anticipated driving times so you aren't too offf schedule.

Ventura is pretty far about 45 mins 1 hour from Getty and that's if the 101 is clear. PCH is also very crowded especially on a Saturday Night. That whole area there is horrible when it comes to getting around. I would suggest staying closer to Getty. There is a hotel off the 405 at the Sunset exit (Getty is on the hill over looking it)and is also very close to Santa Monica (If you have to start your tour in SM). I belive it is a Sheraton(?) With a great restaurant on the top floor.

It is worth the time to viit no matter the hassle of getting there.

Thanks, all - I like driving around new areas, and my wife has never seen the PCH, but Ventura might be too a little too far - we might just stay our first night in Anaheim after the Getty and then on Sunday either drive to where a tour starts or get picked up at the hotel.
