Getting your Room Requests Honored

I have heard people making special requests of rooms at Disneyland resort hotels and then calling back repeatedly to re-issue the requests in an attempt to ensure they get what they want. Here are my questions:

1) Does that really work?
2) If so, what number do you call, your travel agent? WDTC? The main number for the hotel in question?
3) If not, what, if anything, does work for getting room requests - checking in early in the day? Reserving way far in advance? Tips/bribes?

Thanks for your tips!

Pretty much what works is checking in early and hoping that they'll have what you want. And being insistent. When we went we had 2 rooms and wanted one to have DTD view, if not both. They said it couldn't be done. Dh pushed it, they went back and "checked" and then were able to get us one room with that view.

Checking in early is a great idea; however, if you can't do that you can call the pre-registration line first thing in the morning on the day of your check-in. (Or at least, you can do that with the GCH, I don't know about the others but I assume so!) I don't have the number with me but I am sure that if you call the reservations number (714-520-5060) they can give it to you. I called around 8 a.m. the day of arrival and the woman would not tell me the room number but did assign a room that had everything that I had requested. :cool1:

I have never used it, but the pre-registration number for the GC is: 714-300-7210

What worked for us was getting off a 12 hour plane flight from Australia, looking like we'd had no sleep (we HAD had no sleep LOL) and near falling asleep at the reception desk :rotfl: We were given a room immediately, as well as an upgrade that I cheekily requested at check-in! (I wish I knew the name of the GCH cast member who gave us that upgrade, I'd nominate her for an award!).

I have also had good luck with faxing a room request to the front desk a few days before check in. I have gotten a king bed in the section I requested every time I have faxed. Could just be luck, but it has worked for me! :goodvibes

Pre-registration question: What is it?

I was thinking about this more and I wondered, if we all have guaranteed pre-paid rooms, what are they doing at pre-registration? Collecting incedentals credit cards, names of people in the room, other? Just curious.
