Getting to Vero Beach from Orlando

I need some advice on how to get my family to Vero Beach from Orlando.
We are arriving June 9 and staying at Vero Beach for 2 nights and then returning to Orlando and Disney (Wilderness Villas) for another 7 nights.
My problem is my husband isn't coming till the 10th. So would it be cheaper and more reliable for us to rent 2 cars? We have 4 children. We would return the cars on the 11th. Or does anyone know of a reliable shuttle service that goes to Vero and is reasonably priced? Thanks for any info in advance.

Most shuttle services are going to cost at least 50-60 dollars one way. You might be able to get a compact special for your husband that is less but gas is high and you will have to factor that. Also that means he has to drive back from Vero too.

Google shuttles from Orlando to Vero Beach, you will get plenty of options. I am not familar with any of them to recommend one. But most all airport services go to Vero.

Unless your husband is arriving really early on the 10th, with check out at Vero at 11am on the 11th, will he be there long enough to be worth the expense?

It's worth a try (you could try calling Mears) but I don't think you'll find regular group shuttles that might come in at lower prices. You'd need to get a car service. They seem to run around $150 each way. You might want to look into dropping the second rental car in Vero -- price it out and see what makes the most sense. Does your husband get in early enough to make sense for him to come down to Vero for 1 night? Would you consider doing the Vero portion on your own?

You may look into WPB- I think it may be closer the MCO. Melbourne has an internat'l airport too which is about 1 hour away from VB.

Hi, thanks for all your replies. Yes, my husband gets in very early that saturday and he would really like to at least see Vero. We've never been there before. We already have our air booked, so can't switch to Melbourne at this time. Mears does not go to Vero. I guess I'm leaning towards me renting a car and him either taking a shuttle if we can find one or renting a compact and dropping it in Vero. Thanks for your answers.

I would vote for the compact car rental. Look for online specials at the various national chains..

You may just want to keep the car for the extra day instead of dropping it off somewhere at VB.. Depending on which company you use, this may be a bit tough logisticly..

Those times are on the long side. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes from MCO and 1 hour and 50 minutes from WDW. I've driven it several times and it has been this every time. I was really surprised the first time as people had told me 2 hours. Plan for 2 hours that way you'll be pleasantly surprised like we were.
