We have a Disney trip planned before our Carnival cruise (would have loved to have done DCL but then there would have been no WDW trip prior to sailing). What is the best (and most budget friendly :)) to get to the port from WDW? :thanks:

How many people are making the transfer? I'm also assuming you'd like transfers back to MCO (airport) post-cruise?

Renting a car is probably the most economical, but it's also a bit of a hassle. If you rent from the WDW car care center (Alamo) they will pick you up if you are staying at an an onsite resort. You have to call ahead and schedule a pickup time.

We prefer to use a private car service to get to Port Canaveral. Last year we had a group of 8 in a 10 passenger van and it ran about $20 a person including tip.

I've had 2 quotes so far for a private sedan transfer between Port Orleans Riverside and Port Canaveral and they are both coming in at more than the Disney Shuttle.

Southern Elegance quoting $155 without tip, Florida Tours $180.

Both do include a grocery stop but I'm surprised they are more than the shuttle. If we didn't want to get to the ship early (first timers!) then I'd be paying for the shuttle. I'll keep shopping around!

It depends on the size of your party. The break-even point is around 3-4 passengers; so if you have a larger party the private transfers may be less expensive but if it's just a couple of you the DCL transfers may be less.

However, OP isn't taking a DCL cruise so that isn't an option. I agree with seacruise that least expensive is probably a rental car, with the other option for OP being a private car service.

Enjoy your cruise!
